John Brumback's "Bank Pool Secrets of a World Champion"

What about those that don't have $50? What about the kid, who's just getting interested in the game?

Sod them, yeah?

those that don't have $50 will have to save up and if they care enough they'll spend it there instead of on other things.

I didn't say if you don't have the $50 then you don't care about pool. I said if it isn't worth $50.... big difference.

There are many things that are worth the money that I can't afford.

That's like saying, "please only buy new cues from cue makers, don't buy second hand ones, because the cue makers really need the money and have put a lifetime of dedication and hard work into learning the trade and just because you're not going to use the cue anymore it doesn't matter, you should be forced to keep it."
Your argument is ridiculous. I never asked anyone to make a copy for me. I asked them to sell an original product they no longer had a need for. According to your logic the For Sale/Trade section of this forum should be removed. Nobody should be allowed to use Ebay or Craigslist. Nobody mentioned piracy, but you. I think you were just trying to stir controversy in here.

And flog his used copy of this very DVD, apparently. :p

Newsflash buddy - that kid's buying Call of Duty 4, just like allllllllll his mates.

Meanwhile, where's that "why is pool dying?" thread #8,587?

don't ask questions you already know the answers to. this statement is quite contradictory to your previous, is it not? this call of duty playing lad doesn't lack the $50 as you originally stated, but doesn't care as much about pool and would rather spend it elsewhere. key the backing up music.

go away... stop making this great video into something negative and take it for what it is, a useful piece of pool knowledge that if you don't want to pay the money for, then you don't deserve it.

Don't you love to ASSume. Just for your info, Worminator helped John set up his website, you are certainly way out on a limb here by suggesting he's selling his copy of Brumback Banks DVD.

He is most likely sending the person interested in John's DVD some ordering information or link to more info on the DVD. You have no idea what you are talking about, as usual. Go AWAY! You have contributed zero to this thread.

I agree. The debate about the cost of John's DVD is a landslide in favor of it being a steal for $50.

I purchased my copy from "pool101" here on AZB. (If I'm not mistaken, he is either the main Producer or helped with the production at the very least.) I agree with Lou and others that this DVD is a steal for what it contains. I'm still going through my copy as time permits, but let me say that Lou nails it in his review.

TheThaiger: you *do* realize that the DVD costs 50 AMERICAN dollars, right? That's like, what, £30 where you are? Or €38? 30 pounds or 38 euros. I mean, really? You consider that expensive for an instructional DVD that, if digested and practiced, quite literally could take you a couple levels higher in playing ability? This isn't "pie in the sky" knowledge -- it's truly practical and eye-opening information. I consider John's product easily in the same league as the products offered by Freddy Bentivegna ("Banking with the Beard," "GosPool," "Banks that Don't Go but Do," etc.). And that's saying something.

You miss the point, Sean. Based on your logic, why not pitch it straight and exclusively to Bill Gates for £100m. He can afford it, he'll benefit from it and he'll absolutely mash Buffet with it, so it'll be worth it for him in terms of bragging rights, and JB will be well rewarded for his life's work

Meanwhile, plebs like us can eat cake.

We really MUST get away from this idea that a product is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. That is true for originals, like a Picasso, but for a mass-marketed DVD that costs 2 bucks to produce, it is RIDICULOUS. Manufacturers are playing on our vanity, and we are letting them.

Enough with creating barriers to the game. Make it ten dollars and let every pool player benefit from it. That's what we're here for, right? To improve the pool playing community?

So, he was trying to make a sale, which is what I said. And, oh look! You've a vested interested in this as well! Quelle surprise!

John should have made a Limited Edition set of 250 DVDs, each numbered 1 through 250, autographed, and sold them for $200 each. Like Buddy Hall's book, "The Rifleman," they would only go up, up, up in value after they cease to be manufactured. The autographed DVDs that are numbered would be the real deal and worth money. All others would be mere counterfeits.

Heck, I think JB would enjoy pocketing 50 dimes.

Then he could come out with "Bank Pool Secrets of a World Champion II," with new secrets, and make another $50,000. ;)

Hey, by golly, I think I'm on to something here. Stay tuned!

A big fat whooooosh on that one, then. :D

An awful lot of Stockholm Syndromers around these parts. No matter how badly they're treated, they'll still come back for more.

You sir are a cancer to this thread and spreading lies you know nothing about.

The gentleman asking about that DVD is overseas, he inquired about how much it would cost to have it shipped to him. The copy he will receive will be brand new and purchased from John Brumback.

Now please honor Lou's request and start another thread if you are so compelled.

frankly, if it was $10 people like you would complain and pirate it anyways. and for $10 he might as well keep the knowledge to himself for a few more years. JIMO.

It's a very good idea. The premium product can subsidise the budget range.

Another lie... I set-up John's website for him for nothing and do not make a dime on his DVD sales... it all goes to John. Now please stop with your ill-informed posts and lies.

Tim:

The problem with your logic is that it is not exclusive to "pool" like you seem so "kill-shot" oriented with. Your logic would extend to the marketing of *any* recorded media, not just pool, nor just "instructional" media. That means movies (e.g. NetFlix, BlockBuster), games (e.g. the aforementioned Call of Duty), printed materials scanned and placed on DVD for convenience reasons, etc. Oh heck, why are we even fixated on DVDs? How about *any* recorded media, in any way/shape/form? That's not a far leap, you know. In fact, it's the direct logical extension.

Your idea that material "plopped onto a disc" shouldn't cost more than $10 is head-in-the-clouds idealistic at best. At worst, it's a knock against *anyone* receiving fair compensation for exercising brain cells and coming up with cool/great ideas that make people's lives easier or more fun.

Like it or not, you are in a capitalistic society. Supply and demand. The market bears what the market will withstand. All that happy stuff.

Thaiger, one pocket and bank pool are almost always 'money' games.
So, if you're losing your $$$ playing banks, it might be 'cause your opponent
bought this video.
A poor man can't afford cheap tools...instruction is a tool.

Now, you may not need this video...you've said you don't gamble....
...and besides, it's not called 'Doubles Secrets'..

You are 100% right, as a matter of fact, there are 10 copies that are #ed and signed. Two were given away in the name the DVD threads #9&10.
I have copies #1-5.
