John Brumback's "Bank Pool Secrets of a World Champion"

$80 for a VHS and you're not outraged? Pool has always been bananas then. :( No one in the snooker world spends a penny on any of this stuff, and they do alright.

And I very much disagree with your statement that information gets shared freely - it simply does not. The crux of the matter is this; people LIKE high prices, because they THINK it'll give THEM competitive advantage. Producers play on this, whether they;re knocking out DVDs, cues or cases. I have no objection to high prices for cues and cases, but to have a premium imposed on content is deplorable. It is nothing more than opportunism, with the strong dominating the weak.

Thank god Tim Berners-Lee had the foresight to make the internet unrestricted and free for all users. Had he implemented the fuzzy logic of you lot, there would be a handful of billionaires using it to keep us all in our place - and you'd be lining up to congratulate them on their good fortune.

Protectionism is soo twentieth century, John.

I think you should make a DVD on how to be an internet forum retard and sell it for $50. Your posts are so beyond illogical, you MUST be trying to act like a special-needs troll on purpose.

It's only a matter of time before they ixna your azz on here.

The only purpose to the DVD is knowledge. It is not for entertainment. So.... get with a friend (if you have any) and each go in for half the price. Write down the info in the DVD. That way, you can take that knowledge to the pool room and practice it. Once you have the information on the DVD wrote down, you no longer have any use for the DVD. (unless you have a crush on John).

There's a lot of man-love between us - after all, I'm his chief cheerleader - but his 'tashe isn't up to scratch, Neil. :lovies:

What, specifically, do you disagree with? Without the insults would be nice this time.

Let's see, a new Lexus can be had for under 40K and a comparable new BMW or Mercedes is 60K and up. It could be argued (correctly) that the lower priced Lexus is the better car and value for the money. Overpriced Range Rovers versus the much lower priced (and far better) Toyota Sequoia. Does that stop people from buying the BMW, Mercedes or Range Rover? Hardly! Are they getting ripped off by the auto manufacturers or is it the prestige they are after? It could also be argued that buying ANY new car is a wasted value, due to the rapid price drop in the first two years. I know, none of this makes sense, but are human beings always sensible?

What has this got to do with Brumback's Bank Pool DVD? Hell, I don't know. Where am I?

Do you feel that you should be able to approach a champion pool player, and ask them for a free lesson?

If not, what do you feel would be adequate compensation for a champions time?

Say, 3 hours worth lesson time? What do you think would be a fair price? A cup of coffee? $50 bucks?

Again, you're adding an EMOTIONAL element to the proposition.

FWIW Appleton was recently offering a full day's coaching for £100 ($150), one on one. I don't know if anyone took him up on the offer, which I thought was exceptional.

So you need to define champion. Although he has World titles, he's a virtual unknown in the UK, with only a few hundred in the entire country knowing who he is. If he were David Beckham, he'd command millions for his time. The same principle applies to John Brumback, who I'm pretty certain is an unknown outside of geeky pool circles - therefore, his 'time' is not so expensive.

You aren't serious are you?

What are the snooker coaches doing? Giving it away for free? There are plenty of snooker academies where parent spend money to have their kids trained.

Is your Google broken? Try this search term "snooker training dvd"

Must be giving them away for free since you claim no one is buying.

Guess all these people who gave up testimonials are lying????

As to absolute value, an expensive case provides no more protection than a well done $20 case. Anything above that is pure eye candy. A $50 DVD on Banking however can provide a lifetime of value and satisfaction by increasing one's knowledge and skill which leads them to perform at a higher level. Perfect for the person stuck in some part of the world who would otherwise have zero chance to meet John Brumback or anyone close to him in banking skill or knowledge.

The DVD is about making money by sharing knowledge.

Absolutely right. Does everyone agree with this assertion: the higher the cost of the DVD, the fewer will benefit from it.

So how does that help pool? (Again) we're a pool playing community, right? Or do we not give a damn about the game and just look after ourselves, ecause that's the message I'm getting loud and clear.

You want it, you pay for it.
You're broke, tough.

Some community.

As would a $20 DVD, which the whole pool world could benefit from. Do we support pool or John Brumback? I'm confused where our priorities lie.

And, buddy, quit telling me about snooker, eh? I meet and talk to hundreds of snooker players on a daily basis.

Dreaming about buying cars you can't afford because you've wasted all your cash on pointless DVDs, probably.

I bet you think you could solve all the worlds problems? Why dont you search the world and gather up all the pool knowledge you can and go on a mission to teach the world about pool at your on expense? Your points are very weak and not realistic. The approach and points you always seem to take in debating is weak.

you need to step away from your keyboard and open your front door and look outside, That is what the real world looks like! The world as you see it does not exist.

On a daily basis? Are you the counterman at a snooker hall? If not then I call bs on your claim to meet and actually talk to hundreds of snooker players each day. Hell I call BS even if you do work in a snooker hall.

I am not telling you about snooker I am pointing out that contrary to your statements there are plenty of Snooker DVDs out there and they cost money.

Obviously SOMEONE is buying them? Martians perhaps?

Who are YOU to tell John or anyone what they should charge? If the DVD was $20 you would STILL be whining about it.

Someone please report this troll. Jay can buy any car he wants. You however can't buy a clue nor find one for free and wouldn't know what to do with one if someone gave you one.

most people don't know what a Bentley is, but everyone knows what a Honda civic is. Does this mean a new Bentley should cost $5000 and a Honda civic should cost $200 000? You have strung this out as far as you can, its time to go find your next topic to debate the board on.

I don't work at a snooker hall, but I do play 4/5 times a week. I know an awful lot of players.

And I'd gladly buy it for $20. And I'd gladly reveal it 'secrets'. Still, it's good to see you're STILL making false assumptions about me, based on nothing more than hope and conjecture. I thought you were a man of science? ;)

I thought i read in your posts you don't play snooker at all now? personally i don't think you play pool at all.

This is my point, champ! The pool world is not part of the real world - it's living in a time warp, it's the game that time forgot.
The real world has broken down such protectionist barriers, and is all the better for it.
