longest string of 8 ball on a barbox

So I was at a tournament this weekend and there was a "pro" there, most people would consider a relatively very low level pro as most strong short stops could beat him straight up. He was doing exhibitions on a barbox and started to claim that the night before he broke and ran 18 straight racks of 8 ball on a barbox, however I couldn't find anybody who could verify that. I honestly do NOT believe him because I didn't see him run more than 3 all weekend and its not like he was just screwing around, they were obvious position errors that would end his run. So I was curious...what is the biggest pack anybody has ever seen or heard of on a barbox playing 8 ball, I wouldn't be suprised to hear that it was either SVB, Dave Matlock, or Glenn Atwell that has the highest. And I don't mean the longest streak of wins, I want to verify I want to know the most amount of break and run outs in a row.

Due to the fickleness of the break, a very large run is as much about the endless list of break related things as anything in my opinion. Such as (not scratching-getting frozen to something-jacked up). The longest I have seen or been a party to was 11. Brand new cloth. Clean balls. Diamond table. Perfect conditions. No pressure. Blah blah blah.

Longest

Last year someone posted on here that a fellow won an eight ball tournament alt break by winning fourteen games in fourteen turns. He broke and he ran out. When the other guy broke and missed he ran out. Not fourteen break and runs, but pretty sweet.

I believe that was Dan Louie IIRC.

IMO consistantly running that many racks is one thing, doing it time and time again is another. People get hot and feel like they cant miss, they feel invinsable and I have saw this a few times. People who have a huge break can do it more often, alot of my runouts I am shooting 4 balls to cleanup the table.

I had an 11 pack on a valley bar box last year. Several 8 packs over the past 5 years

Well running out an open table I would hope so, and I am not talking about playing the ghost or anything, he claimed that he broke and ran out all of them with his opponet not getting to shoot 1 single time. And sorry, I am not going to name him, although he isn't a touring pro or anything "at least anymore" he is very well known and I am not going to put his name out there for ridicule. I would say he is somewhere along the skill level of...a VNEA AAA or master but he is considered a pro because of his profession.

You appear to be from Colorado so I guess it was Danny Medina.

Wink if I am correct.

Matlock ran the most that I know is verifiable I have heard claims of the 30s and 40s and a claim of 26 from a real strong player that passed a couple years ago but Matlock's 23 racks had many witnesses. Most I seen was from a forum member the bushwhacker ran out three 7 ahead sets although he lost the flip i think the second one and ran it out after opponents scratch on the break. Its kinda intimidating watching a guy run out for 2 hrs.

Danny Medina was a MONSTER on the barbox in the 80s-90s he is someone I forgot who had a verified run over 20 racks I don't remember the number but it was witnessed by quite a few reputable people. As I get older I feel a lot of pool fans are cheated now they will never get to see the bonafide undercover champion anymore.

SEEN Dave Yeager run 13 racks of 8-ball for the cash . Some of these others i believe are referring to 9-ball.

i did a 6 pack in 8-ball in vegas when i was there for apa 9-ball other then that i never really seen any pro,s play 8-ball but a few times

No, it was NOT Medina, I myself have actually not been fortunate enough to see him play but I can't wait. He is not a Colorado local. I do believe a lot of these are 9 ball numbers because breaking and running 20+ racks in a row of 8 ball just sounds ridiculous to me, SVB who is known for his barbox prowess who has said his favorite game I thought I heard him say in an interview that he has ran 10+ racks in a row and maybe more like 15 I can't remember the exact number. So for this "pro" to make claims like that, and also say he can do it frequently...And NOT have a worldwide open offer like Shane does to play for any amount on a barbox playing 8 ball sounds ridiculous to me.

yes i heard svb say that too

I wouldn't doubt 18 if it is indeed a pro.... In 92 or so I was playing in the TN State Amateur I was a B at best... At the time the format was 9 games of 9 8 games of 8 Must win by 2....

My opponent tortured me thru the 9ball portion and I barely made it to the 8ball section winning the last game of 9ball to get the score to 1-8... I then proceeded to string 8racks to take the lead....

Was a win by 2 with a coin flip in sudden death... I won the toss and called 8ball forfeiting the break... I could have let the opponent choose the game and got the break but I wasn't letting him out of the 8 ball...

He breaks and makes a ball and starts running out only to miss a semi toughie in the side after taking out 4 of his linebackers... I walk up and run out the game to win the set.....

So if a B can run an 8pack in a tournament when all the stars align I am betting the pros only need a few starts to hit double digits... Won't be often but also won't be uncommon......
