Damaged pedestal

Any chance of a pic of the damaged pedestal? Maybe someone can suggest a fix or evaluate the damage.

Good luck with your project.

Pedestal Repair

Runnintable,

The pedestal radius can be repaired pretty easily, especially since it is a paint finish. There are three or four different ways to do it....some simpler than others. If you have the opportunity, take the pedestal to a local cabinet shop (one that actually builds their cabinets from scratch) or a custom woodworking shop. If you don't know of any likely suspects, then possibly an antique furniture repair shop can suggest someone for you.

You might want to be careful about leaving the pedestal with anyone that doesn't seem to be completely trustworthy. In some cases, less than reputable shops or individuals have misplaced or lost such items left for repair. As long as you have the pedestal. a missing radius off the end is not a big problem in itself.....but trying to find a complete replacement pedestal might be an unpleasant experience for you.

A simple pencil tracing and measurement of the existing radius may be all the repair guy needs until it is time to glue on the new part.

Good luck to you.

Joe

Maybe the right woodworking shop can save that apron/blind separated side piece as well. Or build you a new one.

good luck
