I'm refering to your question about which GC it is. The sticker on stretcher if its still there will tell you. It could be a 1 with rail
s that carried over into the 2's

On mine stretcher is painted over by a subsequent owner. What would the sticker look like and what would it have on it that identifies the series of GC that it is?

Thanks

Table GC

It's a GC1:D

Hey Glen,

Of Course the table was already taken apart, but that is what the parts looked like. (relating to the complete table picture that you replied to)
Now you mentioned the rails I took pics of do not have the figure 8 so it must be a GCII.
Did II's come with that apron and pedestal design?

Here's a sticker from an original GC 1. The "1s" were just called 'Gold Crown', kind of like the first 'Rocky' movie was just 'Rocky', not Rocky 1. The numbers came with the later tables. At the time, I doubt anyone thought they'd be making a Gold Crown 5 someday. (or a Rocky 5 )

The GC2's had the same apron design, but instead of the longer extrusion moldings to hold the aprons on to the rails, they used shorter pieces so they were easier to hang. The GC2's also had adjustable feet levelers, floating nut plates instead of the fig8 nut plate. The pocket castings were also thinner than the castings used on the GC1's.

For sharing your knowledge

Thanks again Glen

I wish I could upload more pics but it keeps failing to upload to website. I tell you what overall the table looked clean.

Glen, the table says 4x8 and you stated pro-8. Did Brunswick make 4x8 that were not the pro-8 dimensions? The reason I ask is that I have been still toying around with purchasing this table even though it is not a 4.5x9'. Dummy me left all my measuring tools in the car when I went to check it out. Of course, storage unit in NYC is slightly different then other places. We got to the table after going up 4 floors and through a complete maze of units, so lets just say i was not going back to the car so quickly.

Anyway the price on this unit is real good. I know you will warn me of all the headaches.

There is a 9 foot Diamond pro for 900, Cl Western Conn.,will still need to spend 1,500,but than it will play like a Diamond.

gc

Picked up the GC, says AR-6100 on pedestal crossbeam. Gold aprons.
1 apron that goes by the Ball Box has a slight split. Needs repair.
1 of the pedestals needs repair rounded end piece came off (missing)
Metals needs to be cleaned up, feet are in a bad shape cosmetically.

overall needs TLC.
Came with Brunswick wall rack and bridges

Is a Gold Crown with with a model# tag AR-6100 a Gold Crown 1, or is that also how Gold Crown 2 were labeled?

I am not positive, but I was told that there is a difference with the apron design. Now I am not sure if that is consistent between sizes (i.e. 4.5x9' and 4x8')

if you go back a page in the thread there is a pic of a GCI. Some one sent me a e-mail with a pdf listing the differences. GC1 was from 61'-74' but that does not mean they did not implement GC2 features prior to 74'

GC Refinish

The feet on my GCIII were about that rough. I sanded the rust off, primed with metal primer from spray can, then painted with Valspar gold metal flake. Topped with 2 coats of clear.

They look great, and the cost was ten bucks.

Thanks, for the info.

Local Mechanic

Had a local Table mechanic stop by to check my score.

He says it's a gold GC1 probably mid to later 60's

The aprons have been modified they look to have been hung off the rails with L brackets. The Apron extrusions are missing.

The plastic molded pieces that go under the colored aprons are also long gone. Both probably hazards of poor moving over the years.

Does anybody know if I can get these pieces. Just wondering if it is even a possiblilty to give this a shot at full restoration?
