Best table for professional play?

I have a GC IV, and I like it OK, but the pocket castings do not fit flush even though they are down on the wood. The pockets(or cushion facing at the pockets) is HARD. The shirts around the table, although pulled up as tight as possible, still have a little gap between the rails and skirt, and I absolutely hate putting my hand in the ball box only to run into that piece of wood in there to help with support(what were they thinking) I have a bunch of friends with skinned up knuckles that forgot to go in easy.
Anyway.....since I have to get new cloth, fix or remove the cusion facings at the pockets, and all the other stuff I was just thinking that maybe I would get a new table. A couple of my friends are professionals, and I play(at times) pretty close to that level. I want the best playable surface I can get at a reasonable price. I see where Diamond, even though they won't return my emails, has a packge for around $5000. I know they are used in major tournaments, even though I don't see the one in the US Open Championship listed on their website, and just wanted to know if this is a good choice or would you suggest something else? Also, why is a new 9' GC V listed at over $9000, and the whole Diamond package, light and all is around $5000 if Diamond is really that good?....thanks

Yes, you get a hell of a lot of bang for your money with a Diamond, and if they're not returning your call...they're more than likely at the SBE or in Vegas right now, but I can help you if you'd like or call Aaron in sales direct at 812-207-6530...tell him RKC gave you his cell# so you could bypass the office and talk to someone in sales direct:D;)

Is a Diamond a better table than a GC then, or just a better value? Is there a better table than either one for around the same price? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to figure it out...thanks

Just go with the diamond trust me on this. They are the most playable table on the market and the best looking. Second choice would be to get glen aka realkingcobra to "diamondize" your gold crown.

A new Diamond don't need to be modified to play like a Diamond, as it's already one, but a GC can be fixed up to play more like a Diamond than a GC, but that is going to be at around $1,500 or so, and the Diamond is still going to have features that the GC don't have, like the leather pocket liners, one piece slate, leveling system, Dymondwood rails...and a much higher resale value than any GC.

Both are great tables, there are some difference in their playing characteristics is all. Both have their positives and their negatives, but suffice to say they are the two best tables out there. As far as cost I believe you will save a little money on a Diamond but don't go by the list price for the GC on the Brunswick website for comparison. Brunswick I think sells through dealers so I would talk to a couple in your area to find out what it really would cost you.

One thing you might want to check around about GC is that I thought I read (on this board probably) something about that they were going to be coming out with tighter pockets as standard. If that is the case, you may want to wait if you decide on the GC and that is of interest to you.

As for the $5K price for the whole Diamond package, where did you see that? All I could find on their website is "call for pricing."

BTW, I'm not a mechanic but you didn't ask anything technical, you were asking about value and I am a consumer. :grin-square:

This is off the US Open website..they have pricing for NEW and Tournament Used: You can buy table only or package. Package includes light, balls, rack, table, and maybe more

I too would prefer a Diamond Professional over just about anything else. I wonder about their website as well. A number of years ago, they changed the whole site and now it needs A LOT of help. You can hardly look at anything anymore that used to be there (rail options, pricing, accessories, etc.). Their reputation is what sells their tables... that and a lot of tournament exposure... not their website, and I just cannot fathom why in this day and age of high powered websites.

I want my Brunswick Gold Crown I DIAMONDIZED. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Who should I call and what is the phone number?
