What kind of table is this?

My uncle offered me his pool table since at his age all of his kids are grown up, moved out, and they've no reason to have a pool table anymore. I'm trying to figure out what it is. I believe it to be either an old Brunswick or AMF. It was here when he purchased the house in the early-to-mid 70's.

any info would be greatly appreciated!

Tables not marked at all?

Could be a old table that was ordered out of sears catalog or something. If i had to guess i would say AMF.

Only marking I could find was a sticker on it for a local billiard shop that I'm sure has since closed. But no sorts of indicaters that I could find. Maybe I'm just slow x.x

but did you take it?

can't beat the price:)

As true as this is, I live in chicago, and he's in cincinnati. I don't have a problem taking the table, I just haven't got the means. It's 3 piece slate with drop pockets, better than on piece, but I'd still need a uhaul truck. I'm inky 19 which makes that further problematic.

Once you factor in gas...there goes the 'deal'. 300+mi @ 8mpg w/ $4+ gas is gonna kick yo' azzzzzz. plus not being to evealuate the item, plus not being 100% sure how to KDMSU (knock down, move, setup...the DIY is fraught with peril.

If you can have a table, then be patient and get one nearby when it becomes available. When you get your cashish together, find a great mechanic in your area who can either meet you to see/ buy the table and do the delivery/ setup.

You may even find that the mechanic has access to a table for you.

Edit: OK- now I actually read your post:sorry:. Free is a huge factor, as is hoookin your Uncle up by getting that thing out of his house. I still say have someone else KDMSU.

However, I work in a pool room. My boss is a bit cheap and would still probably charge me near full price for setup and refelting(likely needed, it rolls alright, but is quite old)

Bomb Squad...Just FYI, you can break down the table and move it yourself, with a pickup truck and a tool box. If you do, label all screws, nuts, etc, in plastic bags. Mark every piece of the table (write on masking tape), so you know where every piece goes. You can stack the slates on top of each other, on a pallet in the bed of the pickup. You will need help dismantling and moving the slates, so bring somebody with you, or go buy a case of beer and get a couple football players from the high school or college nearest your uncle. IMO, you should not use your "boss" to set up and cover your table. Spend the $$$ on a professional. You can get steered to somebody reputable in the Chicago area. I'd say you're probably looking at $1000 to get it done all around.

The cost of GCs around here are very high, plus moving it would still be obnoxious because everybody charges a premium :/

The issue with moving it myself is that I don't have a big enough truck, and I live 5 hours from the table. I realize I could disassemble myself, but it's just not quite easy to borrow a bunch of people for 10+ hours in a car and then some extras.

You will need a full size pickup. You could take 1 friend with you, and hire some football players down in Cincy. If you don't have the $1000, it's a moot point. Anyway...just offering advice. Best of luck with whatever you do.

I need a friend with a Chevy 3500. $1000 can be mustered without a problem, but it's just a matter of getting the logistics planned.

The table is almost certainly a Cuemaster - mfg'd in Northern KY by
a former employee of National Billiards, which was located in Cincy.
Though not nearly the quality of a National, it should be more than
adequate 'till you decide to become a champion:)

It's been a while, but I moved a few 9 ft, Gold Crowns in a
'76 El Camino... by myself - I had a super sturdy 2 wheeler for the slate,
but you can 'walk' it if the path is fairly flat.

Two men should have no trouble handling the slate. Everything else
could be moved by two teenage girls - if you take it all apart.

U-Haul will rent you a 4 x 8 trailer for a few bucks(?) if you return it
to the place you rent it from. In which case you could move it with
a VW Beetle.

ps: If you decide to go for it, contact me, I can likely help one way or another.

Dale(where there's a will...)
