Rambos-Balabuska-Szambotis brand new here

How do they sell these? You even get a certificate of authenticity.

Yes a certificate that probably says they aren't the original cues but made in the style of the old masters. Much like the Adam's Balabushka series. They may have paid for the rights to use the name or not.

Sadly there are some people who will think they are getting the real deal. I wonder if the cues have an authentic decal signature. Some people will do anything in their pursuit of money. What you have shown here is just marketing. They aren't selling them for he price the originals would bring.

Looks like a lot of cues listed there are Competition Sports cues I think. More specifically from their 2007 catalog. In that catalog they claim the cues measureman points out are actually made in the US.

Their Hall of Fame line is listed as being made by Adam.

Here is the catalog:

I know these brands and cues pretty well. I am surprised that anybody is surprised by them. I mean....it isn't anything new at all and in this case the cues are from a five year old catalog.

So the Szamboti family sold the rights to make a Szamboti replica cue?
That just does not sound right.
And the only licensed maker of Balabuska replicas is Adam.I don't think the ones on this page are made by Adam.
As far as the Rambo go's who knows.

I know about this site and they clearly state that the cues are replicas. But not on the site I referenced.
That was my point.

Adam

They are made by the Adam, I believe they were called the "Hall of Fame" line. My father actually owns one and he says its a great playing cue. They're unmarked to give that classic appearance. He also did a lot of research before purchasing his to verify it was made and licensed by Adam.

I'm pretty sure that the Rambow isn't real...:smile-us-down:
As far as the Szamboti & Balabushka, I'll leave those up to the experts.

Yes, I understand. They are the same cues.

As far as licensing of the names, I agree....it's probably a sham and they have no right to use the names. It has been going on for years though. That's why I am surprised you are surprised. Those cues have been advertised just like that for years. Maybe you just have not seen them?

I'm not saying it's right...just surprised at the reaction.

A little off the post subject but it's all fun and games until it might be one of your cues that go's missing.
Bile in the throat tastes like hell no mater whose cues they are.

There are two lines of cues being talked about here. Let's be clear about that.
The Hall Of Fame series is by Adam.

The Vintage Cue Collection that measureman is pointing out is a different line.
It is claimed they are made in the US. I don't know if that's true.

Both of those lines appear in the Competition Sports catalog I linked to as well as in the web pages. It is not their current site, those seem to be residual pages from at least a couple years ago.

I was not really surprised that they were selling these. I have seen them around for years. What surprised me was that if I was a new person to pool I might think I was getting the real cues and not replicas.
no where does it state "Replicas",that's the point.

kinda funny

Just a thought, why is it "ok" for a custom cuemaker to make a replica or tribute? I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, I just don't get it.

Because they tell you up front that it is a replica or tribute cue.
There are "replica" Rolex watches all over the net.

competition

Well comp sports and the Adam co. were once one in the same. There was some kind of fall out which led or is leading them to seperate. I was doing some research on my old Adam cue awhile back and called the Adam USA office and they answered the phone as "adam" the next week I called the same number and they were "comp sports". I don't know all the details but I have heard fastlenny knows a lot on the subject since at one time he was Adams top dealer in the US.

I believe they were related companies, not the same company. But yes, fastlenny knows more about it.

forgot

I forgot to add, I believe with that fall out competition sports ended up with the rights for the "Hall of Fame" cues. Which then I they may have started to produce at their US factory under the "vintage cue" line.

They can be had a lot cheaper than that under the Axis brand name.

They come with two shafts and play amazingly well.

Very decent quality.

Balabushkas and Szam replicas anyway.

Well.... Gus, Herman, and George are all dead and these are new cues. That might be a hint.

But I understand your point.

People will believe what they want anyway. One guy I know has an Adam Balabushka since about 1990. He swears to this day it is a "real" Balabushka. There is nothing you can show him or tell him to change his mind about that.

What's strange to me is that the site is old. The pages and cues are old.
