Anyone use the NCAA table cloth?

Has anyone here used or have an opinion on the NCAA table cloth that's sold at Ozone?

I recently picked up a home table that needs to be re-done and my gut tells me just to get Simonis and be done with it. Others, however, are insisting that I have to have the NCAA* cloth. I'd love to get some more "experienced" opinions.

There are currently only 2 companies licensed to make NCAA table cloth, and only two models of cloth available.

One is made of polyester and the other is made from Strachan (formerly Milliken) SuperPro cloth, a tournament grade worsted billiard cloth. I would find out which one Ozone is offering before committing. If it is the Superpro, you'll be very pleased with the play of the cloth.

usually with licensed produts like nfl, ncaa, mlb etc... the licensing is so expensive for these companies to buy the names that the only way they can make any money is by printing the logos on inexpensive products to make some $$. i find that the name brand logo items that are for sale are usually are using lower end quality. i would go with simonis and if you are wanting college colors, do the bed in one color and the rails in another. good luck and happy hunting on your re-felt

I checked out Ozone's listings for NCAA table felt. They offer both the professional grade and the recreational grade. Again, for the best performance, go with the professional grade cloth, which isn't a "low end quality" product used just to sell a team.

A while back I played at Northern Illinois University and they had done this
to their tables, 9' GC's, either red bed and black rails or the reverse.

I can think of some school colors that would really be a problem with doing this.

My usual opinion of licensed merchandise is that it is way overpriced for substandard materials. I thought that maybe, just maybe, since it is so expensive that they actually used quality materials. I think I've got enough ammunition to support my decision to NOT get it. Sounds like the professional stuff may be acceptable but at $535 I think I'll pass.

Thanks, everyone.

Oh...and Black-Balled's team REALLY sux! ;)

CT...just for the record, the professional stuff is truly professional stuff. It's the same cloth endorsed by John Schmidt, Daryl Peach, and privately by a few others.

If you REALLY want your team on the table, you can go with the professional grade and you'll end up loving it as it's gonna play like a true professional tournament grade cloth. You just have to decided if it's worth the extra dollars for the customization. The plus side is that it will last a really long time, since the design will help to cover any burns that usually crop up, and the cloth doesn't tear or hole up where those burns and bruises come up like other premium tournament cloths.

I'm a team fan and I understand the passion. You don't have to compromise quality anymore with the professional grade cloth ozone offers.
