What's your favorite Aftermarket Shaft on a schon butt?

The OB Classic shaft is 12.75mm tip. The OB Classic PRO is 11.75mm tip. Both play great on a Schon butt ! F.Y.I.

I am having a OB classic pro built with a 12.25 tip
So if I like it I may have for sale in 5/16x14
Ob classic
Ob classic pro
Tiger ultra ld
Tiger pro
Z2
314-2
Z
314
They all play great on a Schon Butt

OB Cues makes 5 different shafts:
OB-1 w/ 12.75mm tip & wooden ferrule
OB-2 w/11.75mm tip with wooden ferrule
OB Classic w/12.75mm tip (small white ferrule
OB Classic PRO w/11.75mm tip (small white ferrule)
OB Break w/12.75mm tip with wooden ferrule and
HARD Samsara layered leather tip.

F.Y.I.

is the OB shaft the one with the weird looking striped wooden ferule?

I went from a 314-2 to a Schon IV shaft w/Kamui soft, black. I think I'll stay there. What I wonder is, are the players switching back to solid shafts or those who never went to LD shafts, uh, older? I'm well over 60 and is it an old dog thing?

Shane beat the World with a Joss Shaft on his mothers Schon.

It took Shane a sponsor to change. I have personally seen Shane shoot for yrs with this combo- Also the pred. z-2 ferrule material is better than the z-1. The z shafts work great for visiablity especially (At the golf table) Danny Janes personally assured me the (new age shafts were here to stay in 97. mark

Title says it all, which shaft do you prefer the most on a schon butt?

Who cares? The title "says it all", emphatically. A true craftsmen "NEVER" blames his tools. U can play with ANYTHING. And it's particularly "rewarding" to pick some old slough of a house cue off the wall and beat some guy that has a cue that "screws" together. Old School. Schon butt, predator shaft..it's irrelevant.

The only thing that's matter's is who's hand's it's in.

I don't understand why this sort of discussion always has to end in an "Is it the Indian or the arrow?" kind of contest. It's obviously the Indian and the arrow, always has been, including the proverbial Indian himself (who used to make their own arrows, an art in itself). In over 25 years of playing, it happened to me only once that someone asked me to play a game of Straight Pool when I had no cue with me and in a pool hall where I didn't necessarily like the owner enough to ask him to lend me his cue. My opponent figured he'd accept the fact that I took a house cue from the wall as at least somewhat of a handicap (we played for drinks, so no big deal). I ran 62 with it in the first inning, and remember hating the hit and feel, and the sound of every single shot. My opponent conceded the game, saying he needed to be early for his night shift. I was glad since I really didn't feel comfortable shooting with a cue that, well, I didn't feel comfortable with. Isn't that the whole point of owning one's own? Now, there is no definition of what is going to make an individual feel at ease. To me, whatever adds to the pleasure of playing itself is worth it. Take note, please: not all of us derive "fun" primarily from beating others! It's playing and studying, i.e. the love of the game itself that makes me feel like a winner. Plus, regarding those who've got the funds to experiment, maybe even collect nice custom cues, more power to them - all the better for the economy!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

Who cares? I care, because it's a question out of CURIOSITY, am I allowed to ask questions about pool cues on a pool forum? I'm not expecting to go up a handicap because of a different shaft or anything, I was just excited to get my first schon and was curious what other people used with their schon butt, is that so wrong of me? If you don't like the thread then don't post in it, because nobody wants to read your boring and negative posts.

I love how people like you usually hide behind a fake name when ridiculing other people. Pathetic, find something more useful to do with your time, seriously.

For me from me

I like the Predator 314!I played for over 10 years with a McDermot butt and shaft.
When I got my OMEN I got 3 shafts,2 OMEN's and a 314.I played with the OMENS first and they played well, have great feal and very little deflection.BUT
My 314 took a little getting used too,and once that was over the 314 made me a better player!
Yes the shaft made me a better player. How you say?
Because of the consistency of an engineered wood product.
