Has anyone used the tip centering tool from Unique called the Tipalizer ?
Looking for some feedback as to how well it works and can it be used with your tail stock or just by hand. Or is there something better bought or made that you like better. Thanks for the help.

FYI There is a nice looking one now on Ebay for $25.00 looks great, can be used different size tips, Check it out and let me know what you think of it.
Search cue lathe and you will see it.

I use a tip holder that the previous owner of my cue lathe made himself out of delrin, it is an exact 14mm and holds the tip perfectly and goes right into the tailstock. I saw the one on Ebay you are referring to and have actually purchased one but have not received it yet.

I made two out of Delrin as cuejo suggested.
14MM and 13MM holes .
Took less than 20 minutes for both.
I can't believe I didn't do it eons ago.
I do have the Unique.

i have a different approach
i purposely try to put it on off center
then it ends up centered
reverse pshycology

Ha ha,
I like the self made ones too :)
The tipalized is really not very accurate at all.....

You won't believe how handy these are until you've made 'em.

Joey, Are the interiors straight walled or is there a slight taper?

It's just straight.
I drill them to .500 and bore straight 13MM and 14MM plus some two thousandths for wiggle room.
The only drawback in these is they won't take flat pressed tips which expand beyond 14MM. If you buy Picone's tip press, they stay in-size.
You can also use these for slow set glue if you want to settle overnight. Just leave the shaft in the lathe and put some pressure on the tip with this then lock the tailstock overnight.
Btw, the easiest way to clean excess CA with these is to use a cue tip dipped in denatured alcohol. Spin the lathe and clean with cue tip.
Put some wax inside the jig so when you spin the lathe the tip doesn't get hot inside the jig.

Sometime people want to put old tip on the cue. That tip is 100% the same diameter as ferule.

I just use 3 (or 4) matches and the tape. Matches should be placed just above ferule, 1mm or so.

Then is very easy to put gel and place tip in center :embarrassed2:

I guess a post-it note wrapped round the shaft would work as well.....

Joey,
Made some this weekend. Sure is a lot easier to use than a concave live center. Thanks!
