TAR 25: Hatch vs Dechaine Presented by OB Cues sponsored by Simonis Cloth and CSI

I would've said I like Mike in this one until I read about the magicRack. given the use of that, now I like dennis, but only slightly. I think they are pretty evenly matched.

should be a good match either way.

As far as chopping, I don't think it's the norm, but anyway a 4-1 difference is too big to even think about chopping.

I'll be pulling for Dechaine. Not sure about him coming across as a douche as somebody else said, to me he appears to be a confident young player trying to make his way in a tough sport, who in all likelihood will be hanging around the top of US rankings for the next 20 years. The sooner his game gets feared, the better for pool imo.

i think mikes advanced knowledge of racking has been mistaken as douche like to some of us, our mistake i believe and he seems to speak up when he feels wronged, that's the impression i get anyway. I think mike and shane will be the next archer and strickland and lets not forget about TO's johny mora! hes coming along very nicely nowadays!

that's a match for you justin, scotch doubles shane and mike against johny and earl!! new vs old, start building that up! lol

That match will never happen. And Mike is NO Archer or Shane, not even close.

Thank you guys for all of the support. This is going to be a great match with plenty of excitement, I'm sure. Hatch and I have battled every time we've played each other, so I am really looking forward to play. I am also looking forward to taking on Shane after this :p.
Thanks

Play strong and without fear Mike and you will be GTG!

I like Mike Dechaine just for the simple fact he post on here, makes him seem normal! even tho the way he chalks a stick is like scratching a chalk board

I guess the reason why I chalk my stick like that is because more than once in the past Ive gotten down on a important shot and miscued. Boy when that happens I want to break something, so now I make sure that I haven't missed a spot on the tip. I know its brutal, just a habit though.

Really looking forward to this one. Mike plays beautiful patterns and has amazing cueball control. I just have to look away when he's racking... make dinner, read a book, mow the yard, etc. :p

Come down to Texas and give some clinics Mike!

Mike, I enjoy watching you play. Do you practice breaking with a Break Rak.

Do you like the Magic Rack, or would you prefer to rack your on, without the Magic Rack.

How about????

Mark,

Thank you for taking such a hard stance on the chop. Only one thing would be better...if you outlawed players that chop from any event.

In trying to restore some dignity to pool there will be casualties.
I certainly don't want a known chopper to be captain of the Mosconi team.

I'm waiting for the barking to start in this match-up. Dennis has shown good barking skills away from the table and acted like a complete gentleman at the table (Mosconi Cup 2 years ago). From what I've seen of MD, not so true. Great fun.

JCIN, good luck at handling it during the match. This is a great match-up!!!! Good work!!!!!

Jumping Joe,

Thanks for the nice thoughts.

Chopping ruins pool and the players are going to have to understand that they are the losers.

The pro players in US are starving! If they elect to 'chop' in one of our events, they will probably have to find a new occupation.

They will be banned from TAR events and CSI events.
That covers a lot of ground: US Open One Pocket, US Open 10-Ball, Jay Swanson Memorial, US Bar Table Championships, all BCAPL regional events and banned from amateur league play.

PLUS other future events we are working on.

I hope no one tries . . .

Mark Griffin

I think the Joke awhile back gave people the wrong idea...

Some of the guys thought it was funny to Call Mike "Mike DOUCHEaine"..... It was a running joke that I think people read alot into.....

I have been around Mike at enough tournaments to know he takes the time to talk to anyone and he always does it with a smile... I have seen him arguing and woofing as well but not the the point where that nickname should ever be used again.....

The only time I have been around Hatch was at the Open last year when JA informed him of the fact he would not likely make the Mosconi team.. The venom and anger was evidenced and directed at everyone and everything... From the other players, to the mosconi cup.. to the ignorant fans who had no clue to just how (insert multiple bad words here) good he is...

I will give Dennis a break on forming a complete opinion of him until I have been around him more than once... Just that first impressions only happen once.....

Kind of like all the guys forming an opinion of Nevel just from the breaking of his cue on the arena table. and the raking of the balls in his next match..... Everyone I know who knows Nevel swears he is a great guy with a huge heart... Just that we didn't get to see anything even resembling that at the Open....

Oh... Almost forgot... I'm pulling for Douch.... errr Dechaine Yes Mike I know it's not funny anymore but it was when you first started getting into the money and getting noticed =) Just wish more people took it as a joke and not an adjective........

There is only one reason I can think of that Hatch would be mad at the other players because he didnn't make the MC Cup. Johnnyt

Nevel is a Hot Head

All, I know is this.
Nevel's mom apologized to a top player after his match for her son's conduct.
Nevel walked off in a huff.
To act this way in front of your mom, shows you have no respect for her!
I would not use Nevel as character witness.

I only know him from watching Nevel at the Open.... I have several mutual friends who speak highly of him is all I am saying.....

Was just pointing out that lots of times we make and form opinions based on what we hear or see when we don't know someone personally....

With the main point being that Dechaine had always been noting but gracious when I had been around him... And for some reason I have been around him several times in group interactions among fans and other younger generation pro players.... I'm sure someone can come on with other impressions but for now I like Mike and hope he keeps climbing the ladder....

The young guns are who will have to drag pool back up by the bootstraps.... SVB, Dechaine, Morra, Shuff, Lombardo and a ton of euros are part of this generation....

Too much baggage with the old guard and they continue to act as expected... Chopping and making deals...

If the new guard learns anything I hope that it is "if they pull crap like that shut up about it"..... Agassi said Image was everything.... I know it was just a commercial but there is a ton of truth in that... Especially when you are playing a game that desperately needing sponsors on all levels and a rebuilding of a fan base......

I agree

Well said. The old way has not worked for 60 years now.
