all purpose cue

What's the best all purpose cue. Or cue and tip combo. That can do it all. Break. Shoot. Jump. Masse. If there is one.

Any cue would do. But you need the shaft to be stiffer and the tip can't be too small (<12.7). Use a harder tip if you want any success in full ball jumping.

Stiff as one before me told. From my experience a carom queue with a 12 mm conical shaft is a well working all purpose cue. The tip not too soft, my favourite is a milkdud from an elkmaster medium pressed.

J&J Break/Jump/Play Combo 2720

I bought one of these a few years back to use as a break cue, it is an excellent break cue, pretty good jump cue and with the regular playing shaft and really nice hitting playing cue.

I did have the tip changed to a Triangle on the playing shaft.

Not bad at $115.00

One cue for all: it is a Break cue, it is a Play cue, it is a Jump cue, it is a J&J Combo cue
Two pieces cue butt made by special selected high quality wood, with quick release Joint to connect two pieces to one cue butt, easy to change from a play or break cue to a jump cue.
Play cue shaft: Canadian maple shaft with pro taper, installed with 13mm layer leather tip or water buffalo tip. When play with this shaft, it is a nice play cue with solid hit.
Jump/Break cue shaft: special break taper, special ferrule, installed with super hard phenolic Magic jump tip, with more power to break. When play with this shaft, it is a excellent jump & break cue for easy to jump and break

With speed joint to quickly release and change from one cue to another.
Beautiful design: these are some most popular J&J jump/break cues. When we install the cue with a matching pro play cue shaft, it is a nice cue for all purpose.

Let me put on my Renfro disguise real quick like..

BK2 - that'll do just about everything on your list

This has 2 shafts, i was thinking one shaft, all purpose.

Fuggedaboutit....that would be like playing a round of golf with one club.

Spend your money on a good playing cue....
..you can usually find house cues that will handle breaking, jumping,
and masseing. Your playing cue does most of the work.

My cues are 57 inches...so I use the longer house cue on shots I can't
reach comfortably.

I already spent all my money on 1 good cue, and 8 different shafts.

I have a bk2, and the noise and feel when I shoot with it sends chills down my spin in a bad way.

I'm looking for a cheap alternative I can use in the APA to jump and masse with as well, i want to make all these bar tables worse, and build some strength in these areas of my game, in a fun league.

Is jumping with a house cue possible???? cause i aint figured it out. do i need to go to the gym more, or is it more about touch?

Jumping with a house cue is usually easier 'cause they tend to be stiff.
The sweeter the cue hits, the harder it is to jump with.

The house cue.

how bout a cue i can carry around????? and go from place to place with. all the years i've been in pool halls i have never seen a house cue used to legally jump a ball entirely over another. im sure it's possible, but it must be damn hard.

im guessing hard tip, stiff stick, is trhe way to go.

Jumping with a regular cue requires a real quick sharp hit. There may be some disagreements, but this is a place where whipping your wrist and jabbing the cue is better than stroking it.

You're much better off giving up and carrying 1 separate shaft for jumping and breaking.

i repeat, im not aloud to change shaft in the apa. i actually have a poison jump cue, and it's awesome. i am considering using it to shoot with, but i feel like a spectical as it's only 30 something inches long.

It's possible but not real easy even for people with flawless jump strokes. A jump cue or break jump will make jumping tons easier with their harder tips and will allow you better options at short and long distance jumps. To jump with a house cue you have to find a fairly light one with a harder or really well broken in, shortened and trimmed tip. Hitting the gym would only help if you were working solely on arm speed for this particular motion as jumping is cue speed, specific approach angles and finally, allowing the cue to do the work.

Hope that helps...Good shooting!

I guess if you like to shoot with a cue with a very stiff hitting shaft and a very hard tip, and preferably a tip diameter of 13 or more millimeters, you could shoot, massé, break, and jump with the same cue.
