Custom Pool Room

Sorry to dissapoint, but no pics this week. We cleaned and vacuumed several times and got the room spotless. I wrapped up all the small details I needed to get done. This coming weekend I plan on completing the bath. I think I have the final design nailed down. We'll see how it turns out

A bath too? I can sleep under the pool table, as any real pool player carries their Therm a Rest self-inflating mattress wherever they go. No need to build one of those built-in-the-wall beds.

I can see it now, the first combo cue rack/Murphy bed!

Holy crap I just found this thread and I got to say its the greatest thread ever!:D I cant wait to see your room completed. I may have missed it but what are your plans for refrigeration?

I'm getting SUPER excited! I'm already SUPER jealous! And of course SUPER happy for you!

Practicing talking like my teenage daughter. How did I do? lol

Anyways, I am getting very excited as the project is nearing it's end. Such beautiful work!:clapping::clapping:

I get as much of a kick out of seeing the updates to the room as I do from seeing how excited YOU'RE getting! :p

Man, I give you plenty of leeway in anything you say or do. I don't care if you come across a know-it-all or not (You're far from a know-it-all).

BUT YOU DO WALK THE WALK!

TAP TAP TAP!!! I completely agree JoeyA!!!

Welcome to the party!!! I remember the first time I "stumbled" into the thread...I was in awe...pretty much no different than I am now! ;)

Wow!!! Am I glad I didn't have the opportunity to build this seven years ago! I was backing up my files and found this early version of the design. I remember piddling around with the layout when I first thought of building a room. It's half the size of the final design. Good things come to those who wait, I'm glad I waited!

I wasn't even considering Central Air!!!

HAHAHA! I am a little ridiculous!:p I get so excited, like if it was going to be my room. I'm like a kid waiting to open his Christmas presents.

Mostly I'm excited for dsoriano! He's been working so hard with the help and support of his family, I just can't wait to see the pictures of them enjoying their new pool room. He does such incredible work and you can tell he loves what he's doing. I know we all love what he's doing. Right?

I honestly believe that what makes it so amazing is because he's bringing us along for the ride. If we would have only seen pictures of the finished product in a "Show Us Your Pool Room" thread, we would of all said it's very nice, but since we've been along since it's beginning and have seen it develop into this amazing room, we're all in love with it that much more.

Sorry if I'm annoying anyone.

I do like the fans in this design. But I don't see any floor switches to control which one is operating in case you need a little windage either way. I'm sure you added 2 more fans and proper switching in the final design to cover that.

Ok, more Pics

Well I got the Central Air running, and it feels great!:grin-loving: I remember working in 115 deg heat inside the room last summer and that makes me really appreciate it. My neighbor told me when we hooked it up, he was surprised how quiet and smooth the unit ran. The gentleman I bought it from told me he serviced it regularly and only replaced it because of an addition he did to his house. I have two units for my house and spent $4K for each system, $200 aint bad for a used good working system!! I was told by some A/C friends that Id be taking a chance buying a used system, and I knew that, but when you're on a $7000 budget, a $4000 system is not really an option.

I bought some material at Hobby Lobby ($6) and the rods at lowes ($4) for the curtains. I had asked my wife to make me the curtains, which she gladly agreed, but after cleaning the house and making dinner she was pretty tired and anxious as I was I decided to make them my self. I plan on ordering a Billiard pattern later but for now these will do.

As long and you pulled a good vacuum on the refrigerant lines and put in a new inline dryer you should be ok, considering it was ok to begin with. Any moisture in the refrigerant lines will be disaster for the unit. Nice job BTW.

All this amazing craftsmanship and you even made your own curtains, now I am REALLY impressed

Keep up the great work, love following the progress.

Wait a minute... Are we ACTUALLY talking about a $7000 budget for the entire project from start to finish?!? That can't be right...

When I started I budgeted $5000 on drying it in, but came in under close to $4000. And I figured another $3000 to finish the interior, BUT I spent a little more than I anticipated on the Bar and wainscoting.:( I haven't tallied all the receipts yet, but I'm somewhere in the mid 7's right about now, so even though I planned on a $7K budget, I'm a little over. So yes you're correct, it's not entirely right, as of now I'm over about $500 or so from what I originally planned. The carpet will push me another $800. So by the time I'm done I'll be a little over $8k. I'm not including the TV's nor the table refinish in that amount either or any other extras I plan on later. I don’t consider that part of building the room, I think of those as accessories. So you are right, it's not right, but I was pretty close.
Thanks.

i am no engineer

your pool room looks great and i know how much fun it is putting a home room together as the last 3 homes i bought need me to build a room for a table. i always built them on concrete slabs because of the weight of the table. i noticed you used what looks like 15 cinder blocks to support the entire room, are the blocks just sitting on soil ? what type of support is under the cinder blocks? that suprises me that that is enough support for that entire building.

Absolutely incredible.. Sickening, almost. I think I can speak for the rest of those who have yet to post their comments, but you have done a magnificent job. This room SCREAMS detail and not an inch has been missed. I'm bummed it took me so long to finally discover this thread, but pleased that I haven't been left hanging throughout the process. If that were the case, I'm sure I would have been posting every few hours with "NEED... MORE... PHOTOS...".

Tap-Tap-Tap

All your answers have been answered in past posts in several pages.

I just went through all 40 pages of this thread.... Very cool. I had to resist jumping ahead to see how far along you are.
