Hey All

I just can't decide which cue case i want. It'll need to hold my Joss with 2 shafts and a break cue.I know i want....

Full grain leather hard case
Made in USA
lined tube style
2-3 pockets
Made in USA
2x4 or 2x3
Shoulder strap
$400 tops

I think i want zippered pockets for ease of access but i don't know how the latch stlye would work. Has anyone tried both?

Butts and shafts can be inserted up or down

I'm not the kind that goes for the flashy stuff that screams "Take Me Take Me" so those painted cases with 8-balls or flames is out.

Black, brown or tan. Do the lighter colors get dirty easily? Do the darker colors get worn looking easily?

I keep getting drawn to this Talisman case. Not too fancy but looks like a quality piece, although it's not USA made. What i like are the 3 pockets, ~$350 price tag and nice color.

Instroke, Whitten, Swift or Murnak in that price range is where I would look. I am sure there are some other customs out there I am forgetting. I never really got into cases that much. But I have had cases of each and have been pleased with all of them.

Swift !

Take a look at Dennis Swift cases . He will build you a case you will love . Exactly what you want and in your range . His brown cases get more and more beautyful every year of use ....

These cases are built by Dennis Swift for Bert Kinister's line of Widowmaker cases: Widowmaker Cases
The painted balls are optional! I wouldn't want them neither!

That Talisman Tribal case is a nice one (Must be the one you looked at because it has zippered pockets).

Unless something has changed...Talisman cases are not US made.

Now, if you want a best bang for your buck, with everything you could possibly want and then some.....minus the Made in the USA label...a JB Case is the way to go. Once you actually see one and how well they're made AND how well it will protect and snuggle your cues...the Made in the USA label begins to fade a bit. My case will easily outlive me...and likely which ever child of mine inherits it...along with the cues inside.

I think you may have missed the part where the OP stated he wanted tubes.

I understand Joe...no worries. Point I was trying to make was that the USA made label is not a guarantee of quality. I have owned a USA made case or two that were a bit more than a disappointment. And wanted to also point out that the Talisman cases are not US made either...so it did not meet the OP's self-listed criteria. Tons of folks love Instroke cases still to this day, but the production cases were never made in the USA...Germany and then Asia respectively. Conversely...there are also some fine case makers in the US...but not in the price range the OP is looking for, in a tubed case. Not sure about the 'bought' comment....I will go with the quality of the product made over where it was made every day....I'm not gonna buy junk just for the sake of being patriotic.

Yes, Monstermash...I did in fact miss that...however, JB can do that too, and at a price point closer to the OP's criteria. I am sorry that you and JB are having an 'issue'...but that doesn't mean he doesn't build a rock solid case.

First

JB's plain leather cases are $450 plus $75 shipping, so $525 is a little more than the $400 the OP was wanting to spend.

Second, There is a brown Talisman Tribal case for sale in the wanted/for sale section for $240, a pretty good deal.

You don't have to buy junk to be patriotic. But don't close your eyes to the plight of the people of a country just to save a few dollars either. (Both here and there) Everyone shops at Walmart, just don't show them pictures of the sweatshops, because as long as they don't see them, everything is ok.

Kind of like eating veal, just don't show them the containers.

Still not USA made, tho.

So not tryin to get in a pissin match with you but...can you prove to me that John is running a sweatshop? I am not sayin that there are not sweatshops being run...but you typically do not see this quality of workmanship and detail from unhappy workers....anywhere. Sure, they'll work the sweatshop jobs, but the quality typically reflects that.

BTW...so not a fan of Wally World...I avoid it at all costs.
