Help identify this cue, please?

Found it. It was the joint that made me think of your cue, maybe your buttcap was replaced at some point.

That certainly seems to be the same joint material! I sent a message to the folks at Pechauer with a link to this thread (couldn't find an email address, so I just left a message) and hopefully someone will have the time to check this thread out. Thanks for the suggestion! -Josh

quick response from Pechauer

While the joint material looks similar to me, Scott Douglas says it's not one of theirs. He goes on to say that it seems to have the same type of weight screw that they use, but not the same joint, bumper or butt plate. He also mentioned that it didn't look familiar to anyone there. Thanks for the response!

Back to the drawing board I suppose... any other ideas guys?

CADILLAC JOE...... JUST A GUESS, BUT IT HAS ALL THE RIGHT SIGNS. NO REAL WAY TO VERIFY IT THOUGH.

Back in the mid-90's I had a cue made by a local shop here in Denver. The butt cap appeared to be delrin and the joint work looks identical. My cue was a sneaky, but the ring work on yours reminds me a lot of that cue.

Interesting possibility, are there any collectors of Joe's work that I might be able to contact for their opinions? Thanks for the input Marcus!

Do you happen to remember the name of the builder or shop? Thanks for the response! -Josh

I'm not sure of the time frame, but there were some cues made for awhile here in Colorado called "Colorado Cues" and they marked them with a mountain logo on the butt cap.

There was thread on one of those cues here a while back, someone was trying to identify the mountain logo and ended up being succesful... I'll try to find the thread for more information on these cues. Thanks! -Josh

I know Sierra cues uses a mountain logo, but they are imports as far as I know. (Not the original Sierra cues by Eric Niemara.)

Obviously it is not one of these. I mention them only because they use a mountain logo.

If I recall, it was showcase. They marked some of their cues with an 'S' stamped near the butt end but not all, I've had a couple that had no mark at all. I got my cue after Ernie Martinez was the artist, maybe when Gale Clark was the cuemaker there. I still have a couple of his cues - 'post' Showcase. Odd thing about Gale, I have owned no less than 4 Gale Clark cues and no 2 had the same pin. After showcase he marked his cues with a white diamond shape on the butt

Very interesting, upon looking into showcase cues I was unable to find any similar rings. However I did see a bumper that looked identical to mine on a few of them, granted some were terrible photos. Do you know if that was a proprietary bumper? I would very much like to see a picture of one of them removed next to the cue it came in. Not only to see the rest of the bumper, but also the weight bolt...

more thoughts from the weekend crowd?

It looks like there have been three makers who have been mentioned in this thread and not rejected... Russ Espiritu, Cadillac Joe and Showcase(Gale Clark?). I am considering making a poll about these potential makers, with a option to vote for "other" as well.

I hate to say it, but this thread sort of feels like I am beating a dead horse and I don't want to annoy other members by continuing to bump this thread after it has received so many views.

Any thoughs on all that or the cue in question? Thanks for everyones input! -Josh

Well, is there anybody that thinks I should not have this cue refinished? What about re-tapering the shaft, would that heavily devalue a cue of unknown origins?

I guess I'll flog this horse again..

...anybody? I mean... I said please :D

If nothing else can someone clarify what the joint material is? Thanks!- Josh

i will give you my guess on who made this cue......i think it looks like an early ROGER ALLEN cue...he made cues in missisippi and now lives in houston...i have seen cues from him with same type of joint material...
