Streaming for nationals

I am sorry and sad to announce that it is HIGHLY unlikely that the nationals will be live streamed. It is a long story, but Steve Elzinger's illness and death created the first obstacle. We lined up a substitute, but he had to cancel because of work commitments. We switched to lining up a professional. The cost was high, and the cost for running in an internet cable was even higher. We struggled to raise the money ($3000 to $4000 or more). But then the cable company revised and doubled its quote. In the end, I decided that, if we could not provide a reliable, quality stream at an affordable cost, we would simply not live steam. When the cable company revised its quote (which occurred yesterday), I stopped my efforts at arranging the live stream. However, there is a small hope--a glimmer, really. Stay tuned. I am on option number 5, which involves live streaming via a 4 g hotspot. The chances are slim but it might work out. (PS, The USBA realizes that live streaming is an important aspect of promoting billiards in the USA. We are not happy with this result.)

It is remarkable that they want to charge you thousands of dollars to connect to a wire that ought to be there already. Some casinos have more "suck them dry" policies than others. I hope the 4G path works out.
 
And then there still other cost... The Union Cost !!! etc.

Maybe Just set up a video camera and video the national and then download to youtube might be the way to go. Even Deickman got that down pat.

Funny since live streaming of 3C event started in 2008 [not counting CaromTV] you would think USBA Would had a streamers list for each region. Yeah I know money...No support... No one to set up or made contact with streamers. So I quess live stream for USBA is dead???? I have supported 3C live stream events, since Bill Johnson and Mi_Billiard/Curlys, did the first Live stream in 2008 in MI. Along with given promoters streamers name. Just view some of my AZ posts!!

hhhMMMMM...interesting revisionist history...but Bill is a good guy...why not give him credit...I'm good with that.

Regarding streaming the Nationals...there is a rogue person who is going to set up a camera incognito...he actually has been given Kozoom software for a scoring template.

It is not ideal...but I give him an A for effort. We will see.

I think the point is, there's folks that are willing to help. There's some with camera's and laptops, there's some with time, and there's some with cash. All of this is needed and more.

From the outside looking in there doesn't seem to be any focus on streaming till the last minute. I'm sure it's not exactly the way it is. Its simply the way it looks. I pray.

Its brutal. The worst is after you pay the ransom theres no guarantee it will actually work. Ask me how I know.

The enormous challenge... Perhaps the only real challenge... Is a fast, reliable, affordable connection to the Internet. In event venues this is a HUGE profit center, often sold as a concession to a provider. Very hard to overcome. Relying on a 3G/4G cell network alternative only guarantees one out of three - affordable. It is yet unknown if a reliable and sufficiently fast 3G/4G signal is even available... Let alone permitted. Shhhhh... Perhaps that is where the term rogue stems from. I prefer "renegade" myself.

ANDY BETCHA a beer there will be some sorta live stream even if just by amateurs with cell phones......live stream iz wunderkind but.....plans should at least be made to film and archive the matches......are there videos on the USBA web site.....of an instuctional nature ????? your phone may ring someday after yu r home and recovered.
