Congratulations Johnny Archer

Johnny's play was so impressive. I also thought he showed a ton of class during this match. He just played phenomenal.

The level of play was much higher than the last TAR match and without all of the BS. Shane slides played a little emotion but not too much. Top 3 TAR match of all time for me, maybe #1.

Congratulations Johnny Archer & SVB

Great match. Watched all 3 days. Congrats to both these classy gentlemen. They are both a credit to our sport.

SVB looses his normally rock solid "Cool" early in the match. The Scorpion takes care of business. It's a thin line between the best players in the world.

Archer should be on the Mosconi Cup team, along with SVB, Earl, Dennis, and Corey, if you want to win. Don't care about qualifing points.

I 100% agree with you on those 5. I would also have Billy I. as the captain. I think they all would love to play for Billy and Billy is a real sharp guy. If there was any move or way to get an edge or a particular match up Billy would find it.

Johnny Archer played like Johnny Archer...............

Lol. Funny how everyone looks at the guys matching up all the time and they are just assumed to be on the top of the heap. Archer has stayed out of the fray and almost exclusively stuck to tournaments the last 10-15 years.

He showed that even though he doesn't often gamble, he can still get there will all the rest at the top.

Big Congrats Johnny. Although the score was tied it's all about who wins the most important games under more pressure.

How do you think Deuel, Hatch, Dechaine, Morris and Earl stack up to Archer now? LOL.

Well, he didn't play them, so we don't know how it would go! I think all those guys (with the exception of Hatch) would give him a great match in a similar format and would certainly have a chance to beat him- they are all world class players.

Earl did beat Archer last year in their match up- he beat him playing 8 ball and 14.1, but lost in 10 ball. So he won the overall match 2-1.

Anyhow, Archer played great this weekend, gotta give him credit he is obviously an elite player

JA played great and at key moments got some great rolls. Shane made a jump and speared the top left pocket that hung. That pocket is definitely the most finicky one in the litter. Later in a key game they get in a safety battle. Back and forth and then SVB makes this what I thought was a unorthodox safety like a master and puts JA in a cave. JA make this nice up and down and smokes the ball down the rail for shape no less on a TRIPLE TOUGH jump (in the same pocket). I would give the BEST jumper in the world 10 tries for even money on that table.

Outstanding match. Anyone who doesn't support TAR PPV doesn't like pool and should switch to cricket. My only regret was Justin not rotating some of the pros in the room to do color commentating with Ken for a few racks each.

Ken is great but the perspective of a fellow pro would have added much.

yeah it was a good match johnny played great showed people on a tight table the scorpion is someone to be feared.

Great job Johnny. Keep it up.
Thanks to TAR, Johnny, SVB, and everyone else involved in this match. It was very fun to watch. :)

That was some of the best pool I ever saw. It was WPC Finals caliber in every way, even though it was only the two best US players ;) It was a great matchup and TAR hit a home run with this show.

I can't describe in words how much respect I have for these two champions. Given all the difficulties and horse manure in this business, these two stand at the top of class to me.

Johnny has gone out of his way to talk to me heart to heart on matters. His heart seems very genuine and generous. I'm super happy he won. I didn't look to see what the betting line was, but obviously he was the 'dog going in. "He's too old. Shane's break... Johnny doesn't play as well on a Diamond vs a GC. Blah blah blah."

You showed 'em big guy! My hat's off to you!!

I'm also very happy that this TAR match went all the way through with the class and professionalism that TAR, TAR's sponsors and all the fans receive with open arms. I hope other top players took note and it will rub off on them a bit.

It's a proud moment for US Pool.

:)

Nice Post!!!

I would also add, if you have never played on a table with pockets this tight you don't realize just how good these two played. I've seen tables like this make very good players look bad. They also made the 10 ball break look like it was easy.

yes he will be hard to beat on that table for sure.

Hey Real,
How are you doing? I watched Johnny play the day he lost, but I knew he was the man. He played SVB's game too, 10 ball. Johnny likes 9 ball. I guess you will have to play SVB neat!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Way to go, Johnny Archer!!! Totally respect SVB's game, but being from Atlanta I was rooting for the Scorpion. Happy to know that he sealed the deal.
