It seems to me at times that pool falls in this mode from time to time, like our latest episode, with Svb losing to Busti and ARCHER,but even know that SVB has probably won over 90% of his money matches threw these last few years just a couple of loses to great players seem like it can really set a man reeling backwards for sometime, like we all(myself included)forget about all the great victorys a player has had after a couple of losses sets in,but we all know here at az that Svb will be back on top of the pool world again very soon, but for now(today)it just doesnt seem like it !Ps theres no shame losing to ARCHER and BUSTI AND MANY MANY MORE GREAT PLAYERS OUT THERE!

I believe that while SVB shoots very straight...he doesnt necessarily shoot any straighter than Alex, Fransisco, Johnny, Dennis...etc. His big advantage WAS his break. Other players have learned it, so SVB won't be dominating any more. That's not to say he can't win, but his break made him look much better than everyone else....the gap has certainly narrowed if not closed.

Great post, you said it all here!

Ask not what pool can do for you but what you can do for pool.

I heard that in the 60's, can't remember who or where.

when i look at shane he looks bored with pool/ he probably needs to take a small break like a month or 2 just to get the fire back

I don't believe anyone will ever stay on top for long periods in pool...a long period being more than 2 or 3 yrs....for lots of different reasons that we all can name...just had to say this though...I don't think SVB has won 90% of his money matches...I could be wrong but just saying!!! What is his record in TAR matches??? I can't recollect and don't really wanna research it....but seems I remember him losing to Busty and Alex a couple times each...if anyone knows his TAR record I would like to know....tyvm

Right on the money Charles. Almost all the top players have learned the SVB Break now. I said he wouldn't have the break advantage much longer a year ago. Just take a look at the stream from Star Billiard Center in Manila to watch almost everyone there breaking the same way and making one or two balls on most breaks. Even the young guys coming up in the PI that don't have a high percentage of running out yet have the 10-ball break down pat. Johnnyt
