Accu-Stats: How do I unsubscribe from their email machine?

I get an Accu-Stats promotional email almost every day. I want to unsubscribe from them, but they don't have an "unsubscribe" button like every other advertisement email I get has. I replied to the email with a request to unsubscribe me (written out), and the email returned as undeliverable.

Has anyone had success with this?

Thanks.

Can you block that email or send to a spam folder?

I'd like to try an unsubscribe option first...

I found on their website a general contact email and sent them a request. Lets see if I get removed.

Whats so hard just call and speak to Pat or Jim in person I'm sure they will help you.

Here's the number (800) 828 0397

Conversely, why can't they just include an "unsubscribe" link in the email, as required by law?

Not including an "Unsubscribe" link or method in a marketing email is against the CAN-SPAM Act, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission. Fines are severe.

Somebody should tell PAt about that.

Liability imposed by statute...ain't no defense for that one! And penalties are most likely per-violation.

It's the equivalent to calling someone on the do-not-call list. I love Accustats--- I'm just saying they need to get that fixed asap...it's a big-deal.

I am right with ya, Spidey. Pat gots to get in compliance, if he isn't already.

Accu-Stats is too awesome to tank coz of a lack of due-diligence

Imagine if every marketing email you somehow got in your mailbox you had to call the company, and go through their "automated" system.

I'm all for pool things, and I just got fed up with lots of emails (from many companies, not just Accu-Stats). So today instead of just deleting the emails like I normally do, I went through a bunch and unsubscribed from them. There was no such option on Accu-Stats emails. I even spent a few minutes on their site to look for an option, and could not find it.

On the message I sent to the Accu-Stats general inquiry address that I found on their website, I informed them that they do not have an unsubscribe option, like every other marketing email I have seen does. Perhaps they will add one...

Good on ya...wh do love us some accu-stats.

Here's to hoping they read/ research/ react!

Just a word to the wise out there, and this does not pertain to Accu-stats I'm sure of, but this advice is more for all the other lists anyone may be on.

A very common tactic on the Unsubscribe link, is that once you have clicked it, you are telling that place that your email is a known good email with a human on the other end that actually read the email. That place can then turn around and sell that email on a list of known good emails.

This is gold, as far as spammers and harvesters are concerned. Once you click that Unsubscribe, they know they have a good email address and people pay for that information. It's one thing to sell someone a million email addresses that no one knows whether their even active or not, or whether they're ever read or not, it's another to say "as of a week ago or month ago, this email was live and someone was reading it.

I am very hesitant to ever click on a Unsubscribe email. I would rather setup a rule to toss it in my junk/spam folder.

The best thing to do, is to create a email used strictly for web based crap, all those sites that need you to register or need your email for whatever reason. Then your personal email is only used for personal stuff that you know is legitimate. All the rest of crap can go to your throwaway email. When that one gets all clogged up, you can go get another one:smile:

Accu-Stats Email List

Hi Guys!

We acknowledge that there was a problem.

I hate crap emails more than most.

Best response I read here was to call us - that always gets the job done quickly.

As far as promotional emails "every day" - I think MAYBE we have sent out 4 in the past 5 weeks.

Anyway....

For you tech gurus - the answer is that Cybertrails, who hosts our website and email servers has had problems for the past two months.

In one case a customer replied to an email of ours that was then re-transmitted to ALL the customers on the mailing list.

In another case the "ezmlm" mail program that Cybertrail uses started sending out cryptic "bounce notices" to customers. Geesh! Even I got confused.

But most egregious - the "unsubscribe" link and portion of the emails describing how to unsubscribe were left off the emails.

THE FIX:

As of this past weekend I have moved the Accu-Stats website and email programs to a new server with a NEW email program that Cybertrails ASSURES me will fix all the problems.

We'll see...

But for now - the only emails being sent out are through another vendor and they will be few and far between.

Another answer: yes I am versed in the legal aspects of sending mass emails.

Another answer: Accu-Stats has NEVER sold, traded, bartered, or given away customer info - and we NEVER will.

QUICK FIXES:

Always call us - 800-828-0397
Always email me - jim@accu-stats.com

Not that I don't read the AZ Forums but ....

Sorry for the hassle and inconvenience,

Jim

Nice of you to respond Jim and offer a quick solution.

I also (along with Sean and Cali) work in IT. I doubt very much you or Accu-Stats would sell addresses to email harvesters but the principal rule for standard (non-IT admin) users is that you should never click on an Unsubscribe link.

Although ... clicking on those links does give us something to do (because fixing other people's computers is a fun filler between server crashes...)

I had the number handy and posted it next time I won't.

Hey imagine if I could try to help someone out without everyone making a big deal about it, imagine that!

I was on their Email list and now I'm not and don't even know why, Imagine that!

Thank you very much for addressing the issue.

Relax man. No harm, no foul. Thank you for the help. The point I was trying to make was I don't want to go out of my way to call someone to be removed from a mail list. Maybe in this accu-stats case a call would be ok, because its a small pool related company and part of our community. But extending that idea to a larger scale, I'd have to cancel my phone if I had to call everyone to inform them I don't want to be part of their email messages.

Odd.......... I've been on their email list for years and never get weekly emails.

When I do they are timely and usually have good offers and I'm pleased to get them.

It's not like they are sending unsolicited surf board offers to your grandmothers.
