Internal Cue Extension?

A good friend of mine, who passed away 6 years ago, had an older Joss, modified with what I consider
the best cue extension ever.
Someone had cut the butt off 4" from the bottom, then fitted a titanium rod into the short section,
and a titanium tube into the long section.
Both the rod and tube were ever so slightly oval in section.
All one had to do was twist the end about a quarter turn left, pull back to the desired extension,
then twist back to the right to lock. I think the max extend was about 5 or 6 inches.
The weight of the titanium parts was offset by the wood removed, so the weight and balance
of the cue when not extended was not affected.
He had bought the cue second hand, and did not know who had modified it. It worked so quick and smooth,
you hardly noticed him using it.
He said if he ever sold it, I would have first dibs, but a niece of his wanted it to remember him by.
Do any of you know who may have made this extension?

TIA, Dan

Greg Hearns was putting those in his Widowmaker cues at least a dozen years ago. I wish I could find one of those cues now.

I was just watching a Bert Kinister video where he uses one of those. I think Bert endorsed or sold Widowmaker cues.

Yes, I bought the three in my avatar through Bert. Anyone know how he's doing? I tried emailing him yesterday and calling him today but the message said his box is full and cannot accept messages. I was going to ask him if he had any of the originals with the extensions lying around his place. Now that I have a 9 footer I regret not buying one in the first place.

Jeanette Lee has had one on her cue for a long time. They work well for most players. I believe she had hers put on by a cuemaker in Indy. Johnnyt

The info for all of those mentioned above indicate that you have to twist 2 times to loosen, and 2 times to tighten. It's been several years since I used my friends Joss, but I think I remember only about a quarter turn? The oval section shape would allow for this. I know there were no visible threads. Maybe there is more than one maker of this type extender?
I have searched the net (cue maker supplies) for the hardware only, to no avail.

Nat Green used to do it to his South East cues and Lucasi used to have a model that also had the extension built in just like the Jacoby that was pictured earlier but Lucasi did discontinue the cue a few years ago.

I live only about 25 miles or so from Nat Green! I'll have to ask him.
He may have done my friends cue!

Update: I just spoke with Nat, and he is still doing this mod for $150.:)

Call Jacoby and see if they can add that extension to any cue. If they can you might not need to buy the whole shebang.

Waiting to hear from Jacoby about my Schon cue repair. Brandon installed one of their internal extensions into my "break" cue. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it might only get used once or twice a week. Regardless, can't wait to get it back! I'll post a photo when it arrives.

could have been kevin deroo or zac cues. they both have websites and will modify other cues if you want them to.

My suggestion for the June "win a free OB cue contest" was to make an internal extension an option on all new OB cues. And allow people to send an older cue in for modification. I think you would be surprised how many people would be interested.
