Greenies

It seems I always find out by accident that someone sent one...

I discovered recently, the best way to go. When you get onto the AZ forum page, the first thing to do is click on "User CP" in the upper left. It will show new posts in threads you are subscribed to, new PM's AND it shows your rep. As far as I know this is the only way to see your rep.

I feel dumb

I also recieved a greenie that I didn't expect, but my biggest concern is I don't know how to return the favor. So maybe you guys can help. How do you give away this hard earned greenie "ie... respect"?

Thanks

Wow, 30 posts and 6mos on the board and you figured out exactly why the rep system is broken.

If you 'repay the favor', you get a group of people who come on and give each other rep for giving each other rep, which leads to giving each other more rep.

Of course, with a smallish group of longtime posters, a bunch of them were invariable going to eventually max out--because nobody uses red rep much.

As far as this topic goes, I like it for the same reason KC does--nice to see it, nice to know you impacted someone enough for them to point it out and doesn't clog up good topics with postings like, 'LOL' or 'Good point!'

Replying to a post with 'LOL' is the same as saying 'I have NOTHING to add, but I want you all to know I am still here!' The rep comments are easy and good ways to do that in private.

Good point!

Greenies are just like cash.
When you get enough points you can take them down to the redemption center and pick up a new toaster.

That reminds me of when I was little & my mother would collect all her ''green stamps'' from the grocery store. After she saved them for about a year or so, she would head down to the local green stamp store & get us a new blender to make milk shakes in. The good old days are long gone.
Thanks for the fond memories Ted & hope your doing well my friend.

Did you put the stamps in the book like you were supposed to?
I remember back in the 50's going to the S&H Green Stamp center with my mom, who passed away at 95 last year.
Definitely fond memories, and thanks Jeff for bringing out some tears thinking about those days.

Jeff-

That brings back good memories(as well as 'cuesblues' post).

In our household-usually on rainy days-all us kids would help lick and wet sponge those stamps to stick them in the books. I remember we used the big sheets first. Then made up other pages from the remnants and stragglers.

There was a similar script out here-'blue chip stamps' iirc. Same deal-maybe just a competitor grocery chain equivalent.

I think our coolest score was a hand-crank ice cream maker. On reflection-maybe it was all the hard cranking labor that made that ice cream taste so good(especially peach in the summer)

Moms knew how to keep kids occupied back in the day.....'got a little job for you guys today'.... which was actually better than the all summer long task of weeding the 60x150 garden.

...cuesblues- my Mom passed away last November...I hear ya.

thanks and take care

ps:...don't get me started on bundling up to go to the 'food locker' cold storage to restock the home freezer from that stored side of beef. I always think of this when I see the heavy white butcher paper...and the dare from my brother to put my tongue on the frozen wall of the locker....no wonder I lost my case-I been too trusting (dumb) for a long time:grin-square:

pps: Jeff-I let one of my league teammates try a 'dawgdud'. He likes.

I have a mega ton... I never figured out where they come from till yesterday or the day before. IDK what it means honestly.
