Want to put some lines on my table for practice shots.

Definitely do not want lines (or ghostly images of lines) there forever.

What is the best way to do this and then remove said lines?

Edit: 860hr cloth

Why do you need lines any way just mark cue ball position and object ball position, and you can use hole reinforces that are for note book paper they work great!

Because I do.

I could elaborate, but would it really make a difference?

do those just brush out easily?

well Tailors use it on clothes, so my guess is that yes it probably does come out easily.

i personally have never used it, but a lot of the instructors that i know all recommend it.

good luck

Thats what I would guess too, but then I thought, maybe it come out when cleaned and pressed after alterations....

Dont want to find out the hard way! :)

I thought my tailor used soap. Anyway, what about plain old baby powder? Used all the time for the hands and it brushes out.

With white chalk. I just assume all billiard games like balk line use plain chalk board chalk.

Never tried it but if you have a an extra piece of table cloth (to test it on) you might try a carpenters chalk line.
You just hold it taunt and lift it up and snap ( holding from point to point of coarse) and you get a straight line. You can get them at any hardware store.

Depends on what your goal is. White tailors chalk wears off fast. If you are marking spots you want to last for a while just use masters chalk. It stays pretty good. And, crap, it aint the end of the world if it sticks around for a while. Brush it off and every once in a while you should wipe down the cloth with a damp towell anyways. And that will take it off quickly

That's what I was thinking. Nice straight lines in a snap, literally. Seems like it would vacuum out well.

No, there is a special pencil that's used which I assume is the same as a fabric pencil. I don't know how close it is to blackboard chalk. I got a refillable fabric pencil. A 14.1 rack marking comes off in month where I play and would probably come off faster if the cleaning people used vacuum cleaners more vigorously.

I think using pool chalk to mark the table is a really bad idea. It's ground up sand with a binder. I think you don't want any more of that than necessary on the table.

I've seen alot of instructors used the edge of a piece of chalk. It comes right off the table by brushing. If you want it really visible, try tan chalk.

For marking spots, I stick with donuts (looseleaf reinforcement stickers). I've never had a poolhall complain or deny me from using them.

Also, how about laser levels? With a fresh battery, they show up fine on the cloth.

This kind of chalk won't clean off very easily. The red is about impossible to remove. Don't ask how I know. :grin-square:
