so my wife tells me that I can go on the road for about three weeks if i want. this would be a first for me( never really left the midwest). so i was wondering, If you prefer bartables and cheap onepkt where would you go? now i will be traveling alone and I'm not taking a bunch of money, so please recommend places that are safe. I really enjoy watching action also. I would consider myself a decent shortstop(capable of beating good players in tourny's but not for the dough). let's hear some suggestions

Try WI first!
Minneapolis might be a good place to start. Start with the Fri night tourney at CR's, then the Sat & Sun night tourney's at Two Stooges.

I'm not sure of your time frame, but you should try to make it down to Shooters in Olathe, KS for their tournament August 9th - 12th. I know you have been there before and it would be a good tournament to catch on your way to the west.

Fargo Billiards

Come to Fargo Billiards, have a great tournament going on in Early September, and have a weekly 8 ball and 9 ball tournament. Plenty of people to play and an amazing place check it out at www.fargobilliards.com

been there

Thanks for the suggestion so fa, but I' ve been to olathe and the twin cities. I was kind of hoping for some place new. but both of those places haven't been ruled out. I would like to leave later this week. keep the suggestions coming!

Here in the Charleston SC area there are a lot of bartables and bartable players and I know for a fact if you go into Tuckers Billiard Supply (they have 6 9fts set up to play) you can find a 1 pocket game for cheap ($5) a game and Mr. Tucker is one of the nicest guys in pool. There are bar table tournys 5 nights a week and 3 different tournys on fri. sat., sun. nights.

get to texas....there are plenty of players and action to watch...plus it is only in the mid 90s here...

Detroit , Battle Creek, Grand Rapids are doing okay if looking for average action, nothing Monster big happening....9-ball king tournament in Battle Creek on August 4th....(Brickyard Pub)..you can find $50-500 sets...or less too at Blue Diamind, Hall of Fame , .........." whats your game, what do you shoot. Hey your name Eddy Felson?...Who's he??? "

what is the format and added money to the tourny on the 4th? that is exactly the price range i'm looking at for action also. that might be a better possibility. i would put me just under kenny brisbon. idon't think i need weight from him though.

Are you referring to just going out and gambling with strangers? If that is the case, stay home and gamble with people you know. The reason to go on the road is for a change, no one knows how you play and you can use that. You can be as dishonest as you want as you hustle. I can hear you saying, "Oh I don't want to hustle anyone", Well, bring a lot of money then because you will come home broke.

Like I said, if you want to just match up and gamble you don't need to go anywhere, just, make games locally. It is by the way, more dangerous then you may really know and that includes just getting strong armed because you have flashed money.

What really are you talking about doing?

Now that's FUNNYYYYYY

:rotflmao1:
Click your heels together three times & say "there's no place like home" ;)

But it is so true....

Whether you are trying to make some money or just have some fun 3 weeks is a long time on the road if your not used to it.

Being there will give you some huge respect for old man ROAD....I would like to hear you story after the trip......

For most home is so sweet.

Good luck on your adventure...Have a good time...........

I've wanted you to listen to this song for a long time, Geno. This thread is a nice place to put it.

Here is a link to a song by Aaron Watson called "The Road".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHEkeSRUbrc

It's Texas Country, so if you're not into that, just grit your teeth and listen to it anyway.

If you imagine "the road" as almost a person or living thing (as the songwriter intended)......the song makes more sense.

Good luck on the road, btw, the OP, Geno and all the rest of you.
