Have at me! :)

What was it? Go on, I can take it.

I always feel a bit cheated when people do that, even posts from the likes of Champ...

Actually, to be fair and respectful to ChicagoRJ, I'll leave that decision to him, since it was *his* post. It was his decision to pull it, afterall, and I'm not about to end-run his decision.

I will say this, it definitely was towards you, and let's just say it met your smugness head-on, bowling it right over.

It was not a Champ-caliber response; this one had a lot more meat to it.

Ah, it was sooo devastating, he pulled it. Gotcha.

No, it was more of the "Hmm... I think I'll try to avoid the Tim-patented way of getting myself banned, so rather safe than sorry."

Yep, I think that was it.

If you had written that your stroke was coming along fantastically, I'd wonder if you were exaggerating some. The fact that you're reporting how difficult it is says that you are really working on it. It's going to take time, and it's supposed to happen just the way you're describing, where one shot feels great and then the very next feels awful.

As long as you keep at it, there will be more and more great feeling ones and less awful ones.

Great advice given. There will be less awful strokes, but they never completely go away.

Well, coming from a limey bastard that has to eat horrible food, drink warm beer and is from the once proud empire that has been reduced to a nation of inconsequence, I take no offense :)

Well, since he asked for it I"m pretty safe from the long arm of the moderators.... maybe :)

Well, I'll be complaining about that, for one. There was NOTHING about our rotten teeth!

I only get banned when 'bantering' with sensitive types, so I'm quite safe with Chico, Sean.

Well, the funny thing is, I didn't do a darn thing that last time, except hand you some rope. You put it around your own neck, tied the knot, and pulled the trapdoor lever to the gallows all by your little own self.

Thank you, Kevin.

To save time in the discussion, I am not in a position money-wise or time-wise to see an instructor. I am quite certain of the help it would be, but that is not in the cards at this time.

Similarly, buying different glasses is not going to happen, either.

OK, take an old pair of glasses (not bifocals) and either modify the side pieces or tape the nosepiece to your forehead and let the sidepieces go over the lower part of your ear. You will not be able to improve your stance until you solve your vision problem. Ditch the bifocals, they have no place in pool.

I did? I thought I just gave as good as I got. Still, it all worked out for the best in the end, didn't it?

As you probably found out, there's a fine line there somewhere, that if you step over it, the mods sit up and take notice.

And for the record -- just to address any innuendos or unresolved suspicions -- I didn't report you. You can choose to believe that or not, but suffice to say, I am being honest with you. Either someone else reported you, or else the mods, in their watchful eye over the [then] new Aiming subforum, noticed you were either getting out of hand or else intentionally feeding the melee to keep it going.

I had actually given thought to digging out the glasses I had before I got switched over to bifocals, just to try. I'm thinking it probably won't do any good, but it might be a fun experiment.

I've had these foolish glasses for a year and a half now, and I still haven't adjusted to them like I think I should, in general terms, not even regarding pool. I'm always tilting my head up or down significantly, in order tosee, and I thought the premise of these foolish things was to be able to have your eyes do that automatically. Hell, right now I'm looking over them as I type this, looking at an LCD monitor. I think I need to try a different optometrist and see if he/she agrees. But that's a different tale of woe.

On a note actually related to my whole saga (now that I'm back from trying to follow the USPS/duct tape/butter knife/missing shafts thread in the main forum, lol) I feel sure about one thing...

...I am hooked!

Last night, I had to wait around till a certain timeframe so that I could take my son somewhere. That left very little time in the evening before our club closes. Undaunted, I flew over there so that I had at least 20 minutes to get some work in before they closed.

(That damned tip can touch the cloth after the shot, I know it!)

This is good stuff.

Uh oh....Be careful of PMs with good intentions......

Sean...As much as I feel I have a good handle on teaching pool, I don't know squat about the reality of the internet...and had NO idea of what you said. Thanks for letting me know.

As far as the "name a pro" thing...that makes no difference either. Bruce has no aim to become any level of pro...just a fun-loving amateur player, who can run a few balls, and win a few games, more often than not. As far as that goes, there is no 'one right stance' (or stance height). Personally I think people focus WAY too much on what pro players do. 99.9999% of poolplayers will never reach nor aspire to become an elite level pro. As such, trying to 'match' the parameters that they have chosen for themselves (for whatever reason), just because "they do it that way", imo, is a poor decision...especially if it is something that doesn't contribute to someones' consistency.

I'm definitely up for pizza & beer next time I'm in CT!

Scott, you do know that you don't have to do the "dubya dubya dubya" business in URLs anymore, right? That "www.<some_domain>" notation is considered archaeic these days -- there's no need for it.

For instance, your site is reachable thusly:

poolknowledge.com (http://poolknowledge.com/ is the underlying URL)

Some sites (like yours) will redirect to "dubya dubya dubya" but that's only because of lack of knowledge on the part of your website's DNS administrator.

Just thought you might want to know, from someone who does this for a living. ;)

Well, I figured I'd give you a pass for the "bad teeth" since you are stuck with govt healthcare, I"m pretty sure it is much cheaper to rip the teeth out of your noggin rather than save them !!!
