So back around Feb-Mar of this year a friend of mine wanted to get a 60" cue. Not finding much that interested him, I said I could design one (using my template from the Design Your Dream Cue contest). I modified the design with woods and materials of his choice. Curly Maple, Leopardwood, Brown Phenolic and Turquoise. He also liked the look of reverse points so I changed that too. here is what I came up with.
Little did I know that the non standard dimensions of the segmented handle would be such a challenge. The local cue maker we wanted to make it wouldn't touch it. Then after a lot of talk on Ask The Cuemaker on here and then trying to find a maker to make it for under $1000, it appeared it was going to be next to impossible. Until a member on here pointed me to John Nemec from Texas. John said he could make it, asked a reasonable price, didn't ask for a deposit, and delivered it in less than 5 months. The cue came out beautiful and plays extremely well. Great balance, solid feel, just a great looking and playing cue. Excuse the pictures, I took them with my phone and in somewhat bad lighting. They do this cue no justice!
