Shane learned alot from Earl

great match

I think the 10 ball was great. Did they miss some shots? Yes. We forget it is a race to 25, and there will be ups and downs.

That table is a lot like golfers playing a US Open Course during the Open, extremely hard. This guys want to win. Sometimes the harder you try the harder it is (yes, from my hypnosis training).

Justin, thanks for a great stream and some hilarious moments in the chat. I hope you do not have much of a headache from testing to much whiskey. You put on a great show.

I only wish I would have had streams in college when I first played pool in college.

Can't wait for the next TAR, there is nothing out there like it in the pool world.

I wouldn't call what Earl does a give up stroke, he plays fast whether he is winning or losing. I believe he would be better off slowing down a little but nobody would ever be able to convince him of that.

I havent seen it lately but ive seen him bang at the balls without a care. In that mode, he usually amazingly makes 2-3 balls-then misses. His most notable occasion dong this was at the BCA one year- 2004 or so when they swore he would never be invited back.

really

On this subject; I wonder if you saw the ending of the first "Color of Money"
match in Hong Kong with Efren.......I think it was Mark Wilson commentating that Earl used a "give up" stroke.......Did Earl "give up" during that match?

i have heard some people refer to the 'give up stroke' as more or less free stroking because you figure you've already lost and the pressure is gone. That is probably what Mark was talking about and i think the original meaning of the give-up-stroke. Earl with his totally outrageous 'i dont give a shit stroke' has changed the meaning of it to some lately.

Firstly, the quality of the stream last night was perfect. If someone was chopping, it was 100% on their end. If it chopped from TAR or from the CDN, it would have chopped for everyone (me included).

Secondly, I don't think Shane had any give-up strokes. I think things weren't going his way, but I never saw him quit-stroke. I had a few bucks on Orcullo and went from thinking I couldn't lose to thinking I couldn't win. Shane got his 10 ball break working towards the end and it looked like the freight train was chugging-up.

I had money on Shane and my thinking was exactly the opposite LOL, then Shane scratched trying to get really good on that ball on the rail when he was on 23. If he got that game and went hill hill I'd say he had a 75% of winning it. Did make for a fun set though.

Some of the shots he played were not very well though out though especially the kicks, he just hit some of them with a "WTH" attitude.

Shane is one of my most favorite players to watch. But I have noticed this last 3-5 months or so he looks dog tired. I think he needs to take a short break from pool before he burns himself out.

i noticed in one of the past tar podcast that there was something different about him. He looked like a guy that just had other things on his mind and he finally stopped living and eating pool... my opinion

I used to admire Shane for the way he simply accepted the circumstances of the table without emotion. It didn't matter that his opponent just missed and ended up safe, or that he broke and made a ball with no shot on the 1, etc. He was just happy to be at the table and was intent on making the most of his opportunity. It seems that in the last year or two that has changed to hitting the table with his cue, openly showing frustration, and hanging his head.

Admitedly, this behavior is rather typical, but Shane is not a "typical" player, and this does nothing to improve his game or his chances to win the current match. He would do well to take a step backward to a time when his attitude, and his results, were better.

Is it just me, or is the prohibitive US Mosconi points leader now 0-3 in his latest TAR matches?

Has Shane won anything major since the all around at Derby? It seems like he got off to a great start this year, and has kind of slowed down. This doesn't mean he's still not a top tier player. Maybe there's something going on in his personal life that's making him not play his best. When you have something else on your mind, it can definitely affect your game.

He could also be setting his expectations very high for himself, and creating pressure to meet or exceed those expectations. I mean when you're one of the best in the world, I'm sure it can be tough when you and everyone else expects you to win every match you play.

You might mention that I refunded your money. Before the match ended. Which you evidently were able to finish watching even though the feed was terrible.
