Sharks episode 15

Sharks episode 15 is out. It is on the AZ Billiards front page at this time and also it can be seen with all the other episodes with the link above.

Please comment on the game idea that is described in the beginning of the episode. I would like to know what you think about it.

I have a question: Ive been watching all the episodes as you release them, and I enjoy them. Is the whole series finished, or do you film and edit on a weekly basis? I noticed the copyright in the opening credits is 2011, that's why I'm asking.

Regarding the game you asked about, it seems like what Bonus Ball is trying to do, but with standard games. I think it could have potential. I know that on a local room level, we have opponents that we try our best to beat their brains in. But, when an out of towner comes in, we tend to band together, and try to beat them. This is sort of like coming together as a team.

I copyrighted the idea and the first scripts in 2011 and the first one came out on Feb 15, 2012. But I shoot them as I go. We generally know what is going to happen for the next few episodes. I don't really see an end to it right now, cause there are a lot of stories to tie up.

As for the game, I have always felt that the home team has been a very strong draw to most sports fans. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and the Steelers were the home team. I've been away from Pittsburgh for 45 years now but when I see the gold and black uniform of the Steelers, I want them to win. I don't know who is on the team, I just want them to win and I'm happy when they do.

I don't think that pool has many fans because it lacks that tie to regular people.(non pool players). One thing i have noticed through the years is that most people who watch pool are players in some way, while only a very small percentage of other sports fans are actually players. If basketball was dependent on only people who play basketball, they would be in the same boat as pool is. As you say, when an outsider comes in, you want to see your group win and that is a natural reaction that is lacking in pool right now.

Yes Bonus Ball will have teams repping major cities, that gets the regular people behind it and creates new fans. Your team is the Atlanta Scorpions. :smile:

I guess it is expected that Bonus Ball advocates will try to take over this thread to push their game. I don't blame them. I hear that there are a lot of people being paid to play. That is great for them.

As for the game, only time will tell. If they are right and they can start a whole new game, and get people to care about it at the same time, is yet to be seen. Apparently it has been around for many years and I actually just heard about it a short while ago.

I've never seen a set of balls in any room that I've been in and I never heard anything about it otherwise, until I gave out the scripts for the last few episodes and was told about it.

I personally feel that having games that are recognizable and comfortable is the way I would go because the more someone can relate to the situation will make it more personal. Like most guys played baseball when they were young so they already understand the game. They now just need a reason to watch it as an adult.

So, welcome Bonus Ball advocates. This could be a good discussion.

I liked the city team concept...I also liked the use of the three games we all know and enjoy.

Of course, like any other pro city team, owners could and would recruit players from all over the planet.

Only problem I see is that, as usual, there isn't enough fan base to make it pay.

But I could be wrong...after all, pro soccer is taking off in some cities...go figure.

I know. I always wondered how people could watch a bunch of guys run up and down a field for 2 hours without scoring a point. But the fact is that it is an ego trip for the team and the fans to win. I've heard stories that teams would go to other countries and lose and they were afraid to go home in fear for their lives. And some players have actually been killed by fans. This has nothing to do with the game, but all to do with the need for fans to win.

A question I just asked myself is how far I'd be willing to travel to watch a teams match live?

Sadly, not far...maybe 100 miles or a couple of hours driving time. Might be easier to draw the cheering fans in a major city. I'm a small town guy, the closest city of any size is Portland, OR...a town that pretends to be cool, but also a town that kicked out a minor league baseball team in order to convert the stadium to soccer. Grrrr...

I think that streaming pay per view for a low cost could remedy that problem, but traveling for the teams would present a financial problem although these games can be shot anywhere and made into productions from the technical side.

Also, there could be regional divisions so teams don't have to travel so far until they get into play-off games.

Larger cities can draw more fans, but as in any sport, smaller towns between two big city teams have to choose who they want to root for.

Thank you very much.

One thing that wasn't in the show was how the subs are used. If you substitute a player, the original player is out and the substitute takes on the win record of the substituted player.

What's the name of the Florida team, just out of curiosity, if there is one and that's something known these days. And where can I get a jersey? ;)

Got a crash-course in Bonus Ball from Rodney Morris the other day, I couldn't play another game for days. It's loads of fun, even if you're substituting "orangish" and "purplish" stripes and solids for the real balls.

Back on topic: Enjoyed the new episode, keep it up.

I figured. Soccer is by far the most popular sport on the planet, so it can't be all bad.
