Something to remember (and I have a lot of trouble with this one too) is you sometimes have to just let people save face and give their bad advice.
Being publicly corrected really gets people's hackles up. That's why some league players hate having a timeout called on them even though they know you're better... they feel like you're saying: "ok, you're about to do something wrong again, I'm gonna announce that to everyone, then swoop in and save you from your stupid self".
It's not rational but it's a real issue.
To you, the boyfriend is acting like king shit. To him, you're the guy acting like king shit. To the girl... well, she doesn't have much knowledge yet and as far as she knows, both guys are offering equally valid thoughts and maybe neither one is wrong. Or if one is wrong, she has no idea how to figure out which one.
whether it's one guy coaching another or two people coaching a third party, sometimes it's best to just pretend the other options presented are equally valid and then leave it up to the shooter to decide which one makes sense to them. If they have a mind for pool, they will probably figure it out via common sense. Eventually.
