Buddy Hall called me tonight and said he was back in stroke-

hit

Mind telling me (if you happen to know) what attributed to the stiffer hit? What type of ferrule is on it?

Thanks in advance.

This is what Buddy told me today and a few of my thoughts and observations. Hope this helps but i'm not an expert and i don't think he is either..lol So don't hold me to any of this...I did ask questions...I've owned quite a few Meuccis in the 80's so i was interested as i thought they would be whippy with the smaller shafts he had. I normally play with 13mm shafts
He had 2 in his case. I hit some with both sticks after our session. 1- was his playing cue and i believe its a 4 point? with a Hoppe butt. Good looking cue. Steel sleeved joint. Extremely well balanced. 12.5mm shafts. The other was i believe a production cue, 4 point without the hoppe and had a phenolic joint and 12.75mm shafts. Both had sharp points. He said the phenolic joint cue was sleeved too but i didn't look. They both had the real long meucci phenolic ferrules on them
He told me that the new ones don't have the same long Meucci straight taper. Its still the long Meucci taper, but its not straight and he said they barely step the thickness up at points along the taper. I don't think he really understood it fully either...
His playing cue hit real stiff for a meucci IMO. It was even almost like a predator like hit. He mentioned that they were a new lower deflection design. Didn't have that Meucci loose "feedback" kinda of a hit. Felt real good tho. The other stick felt pretty good except it wasn't balanced quite as well and it was a tad looser but still a real stiff hit for the thinner shafts and the long taper. I guessed the looser hit was because of the joint material being phenolic on the second cue. Hope this helps. Maybe someone with more info can tell us more. John

If Buddy Hall plays with it I think it has to shoot good. Because he can play with any cue he wants to play with.

If Buddy sticks with the diet plan that Bob Meucci put him on while I was back home playing pool with them well then he would drop the weight so fast. Bob Meucci has lost as much as 90 pounds in one month!

The only way you can lose 90lbs in a month is if a surgeon cuts your siamese twin off.

Or, you get your lower body caught in a harvester.

Biggest loser contestants have recorded weight losses of up to 25 lbs in a week.
Typically, the bigger the contestant, the more weight you can lose initially.

And I know people who have lost 40lbs in one month who were not even close to being OBESE, but all they did was work out and eat very little.

So it is probably possible.
Dunno if Buddy's health will allow him to work out vigorously though.
90lbs in a month is certainly not going to happen just on diet alone.

Bob Meucci was all about this diet and said he lost as much as 90 pounds in a month, he looked real good. Regardless of what diet Buddy chooses to or not to use he is still one of the greatest player in the game and I for one would like to see him drop some weight and be around for many years to come!

Buddy has always been inspirational to me and my game. Tell him "HI" from CJ and I'm about ready for another lesson in Metropolis:wink:

I love to hear a great pro like Cj Wiley give a legend his due. It shows what a class act CJ is giving Buddy Hall respect. Buddy has done so much for the game and is such a great player. Not a better cue ball on earth, than Buddy"s....I would love to see Buddy come out and play well in a couple of tournaments"-)

Hey Markgw,
I just got off of the phone with Buddy he was going in the pool hall to play someone a match. He told me to tell everybody that he plays by appointments only now. And if you are under 45 you have to play One Pocket. If you are over 45 he will play you 9 ball. He thanks everyone for their good wishes for his health. And all the good things you all say about him. He said he tries to get along with everyone. And he is feeling good today again. I thank all of you all for all the good things you say about Buddy Hall too. He is my good friend.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I am glad that Buddy is back running balls. The man has always been one of Hero's but with said lately when I see him playing match's on line it appears that his health is not so good. I hope things continue to go his way because when I met him in the 1970's he was larger than life and indestructible not to mention he hardly ever missed a markable ball.

Thanks for the Pot Lock, Buddy certainly deserves thing to his way with all the pleasure he has given all of sweaters throughout the years.

War Lock 1,
Buddy Hall sends a special hello to you and your family. He said thank you so much when I read him your post on the phone a little while ago. He thought it was so nice of you to say all of that about him.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

That's the other thing I love about Buddy Hall Lock n Load, he always has time for you. I have met him 2 or 3 times and he has always been very generous with giving me his time for conversation. He's a complete gentleman besides being one of the all time greats of this very difficult game"-). He should always be considered one of the great ambassadors of pool. He has so much knowledge. His instructional video's are worth there weight in gold. His execution is unreal and he is respected by every pro that exists. He could go away forever right now and be very proud of what he has done. I am so glad to hear he's feeling well and playing..Blessings to Buddy!!!

Forget what he said to me 3 nights ago about not being able to run 3 balls in a row. Tonight he said Lock, I just won $60.00 playing One Pocket for $5.00 a game. And I was running all my balls often. I should never had told him about a guy winning $4K playing 9 ball for $5.00 a game from Friday to Monday. I told him that a while back. He tried it and said he now gets all kind of action.
My answer was Buddy, why do you think people call you the Rifleman? He said I am back where I was then. So watch out everybody. The Rifleman is not on TV he is in Metropolis, Il. His name is Buddy Hall. He also said he had me coming thru on the speakers in his car. He has Stereo Lock N Load in the car with him. Does that mean that I am two times Lock N Load?
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Lock,
Thanks for the update on Buddy as well as another positive post!

I "donated" $75.00 to Buddy a few years back. I played him a set of 1P for $50 and a set of banks for $25.00. I asked him if he would mind if he didn't give me any weight, I wanted to play him even just to feel what it feels like to get run over by him! It was a definite highlight of my life in pooldom.

I was honored to have been able to play an all-time great and one of my all-time favorite champions.

As always, honorable Lock N Load, I wish you all the very best!

PS- I still do!

Hello Terry and wife,
I thank you for sharing with us a wonderful link. I see you are doing OK! I tried to send you a PM last week but your box was full. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Thanks for all of the good words.

This piqued my interest. Why the under-over 45 thing?

That's because the glue holding the plastic laminations to him gave way, and they all fell off.

:p

J/K!

Yep, you get "Fargo'ed" (the movie, if you know the woodchipper scene I'm talking about).
