hit
This is what Buddy told me today and a few of my thoughts and observations. Hope this helps but i'm not an expert and i don't think he is either..lol So don't hold me to any of this...I did ask questions...I've owned quite a few Meuccis in the 80's so i was interested as i thought they would be whippy with the smaller shafts he had. I normally play with 13mm shafts
He had 2 in his case. I hit some with both sticks after our session. 1- was his playing cue and i believe its a 4 point? with a Hoppe butt. Good looking cue. Steel sleeved joint. Extremely well balanced. 12.5mm shafts. The other was i believe a production cue, 4 point without the hoppe and had a phenolic joint and 12.75mm shafts. Both had sharp points. He said the phenolic joint cue was sleeved too but i didn't look. They both had the real long meucci phenolic ferrules on them
He told me that the new ones don't have the same long Meucci straight taper. Its still the long Meucci taper, but its not straight and he said they barely step the thickness up at points along the taper. I don't think he really understood it fully either...
His playing cue hit real stiff for a meucci IMO. It was even almost like a predator like hit. He mentioned that they were a new lower deflection design. Didn't have that Meucci loose "feedback" kinda of a hit. Felt real good tho. The other stick felt pretty good except it wasn't balanced quite as well and it was a tad looser but still a real stiff hit for the thinner shafts and the long taper. I guessed the looser hit was because of the joint material being phenolic on the second cue. Hope this helps. Maybe someone with more info can tell us more. John
Mind telling me (if you happen to know) what attributed to the stiffer hit? What type of ferrule is on it?
Thanks in advance.
