Ya know, I had this same problem when I decided to make an investment into my first nice pool cue because I was starting to take pool more seriously. I narrowed it down to Joss, Pechauer and Schon just as you did. I even posted asking about it etc... No matter which one you go with, you can bet you will have a good quality cue but as I did research I found that none of them got more votes from people than the others. People had great things and bad things to say about each of the cues. I finally decided (after reading up on all of these cue makers for weeks) to make a decision and I got the Pechauer JP19-L

Its not the most expensive Pechauer and its not the cheapest. I will admit that I also LOVED the way it looked. Its a sharp cue. I got it, took it out and fell in love with it. I immediately went out to the pool hall to shoot with it and I couldn't wait. I will admit that I was extremely nervous after ordering it and making my decision wondering if I had made a bad decision. Should I have done more research and got more opinions? However, all of that went away when I shot with it. The thing hits and plays like a dream. Got three offers from people to buy or trade for it before I left the pool hall that night too.
After that, I got much more involved with pool and since then I have tried Joss AND Schon. I can honestly say that I was absolutely happy with my purchase even after shooting with both of the other cue makers. You are probably wanting to know why I like it better. For me, I like a very stiff hitting cue. The Pechauer is going to be (in my opinion) one of the stiffest hitting cues out of the box. The Schon hits pretty stiff as well. The thing is that even though the Pechauer hits stiff, it still feels wonderful.
People are always saying you can't find any shafts for it because of its unique joint thread but thats not true. I found many sites that have Predator 314 and z shafts for it and OB shafts are pretty easy to find as well. I just haven't had any issues finding anything for it. I decided not to go with a 314 shaft because the shaft that comes with it works just fine for me.
I don't consider myself to be biased toward Pechauer because I did take the time to shoot with the other cues but when comparing them to my cue it just felt to me as if they didn't compare because its not what I was looking for in a cue. When it comes down to it, its going to be personal preference. My best advice is to take an opportunity to shoot with a cue from each of those cue makers. If that is not something you are able to do then I would just take the information that you get from people on how these cues perform and take what it is that you are looking for in a cue and choose the one that best fits your expectations. That would be the best advice that I can give you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
