i beat a college kid for $700 hundred playing $50 a game barbox 9 ball. the kid played well but wasnt expecting to play a good player (not trying to brag) at this particular bar. afterwards, he said he could make a ridiculous shot (cue ball off the point and then one rail to make a ball in the corner) for his money back. half joking, i gave him 10-1 on $50 bucks and he nailed it. I said i'd give him 5 tries to do it again at the same odds and he nailed it 1st try again. quickest $1000 i ever lost. congratulations to some random kid for either practicing the hell out of that shot or just making it when it really counted... either way i feel so jilted that i had to make a post about it

Sorry Bud but who got Hustled?

Instead of giving him 5 tries after he did it the first time, you should have given him the same odds and made him do it 5 times.

not denying i got hustled, but at this point we were both drunk and this shot was a joke. off the point of the side one rail to the corner... i offered him another chance but he asked me to pay up and i begrudgingly did

This has been posted many times before, but just in case you missed it:

"One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider."

That is a brutal brutal way to lose. But the lesson is of course don't bet a man he can't do something when he tells you he can. Sometimes when you are messing around you find some weird shot that goes often. I bet if you try this you will find that it goes more than you think.

I hate to play all day grinding out the win and then dog off the money on something in five minutes.

At least it wasn't the other way around. I once lost $800 in two quarter flips and had to work 12 hours playing the guy to get even.

At least the kid had gamble

With the gamble getting less and less in the ole pool hall at least you can say the kid, and you, had some gamble in ya.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but it reads like a common trickshot.

Do you mean this shot at 30 seconds?

Or an even kinkier version at 30 seconds of

If so, then you're prime to give up 15-1 on these:

Freddie <~~~ taking 10-1 that I miss

broke and ran. 2 9s on the break though. wish i had more to show for it...

I had an experience like that more than once.
I gave a man 65 points on a 6x12 full rack and beat him for $600...
I played outta my mind to beat him.
...he got it back in a few minutes lagging for $100 a shot....
..I couldn't beat him at lagging.

..finally won the $600 back playing gin

my first inclination, being the father of a couple of 30-something boys, is to grab you by the lapels and throttle you.

but, alas, you're not my kid and so you might throttle back. :grin-square:

what I will do, however, is give you green rep for your honesty. most people who this happens to would never admit it, let alone publicly.

and I've enjoyed every response you have received, so far.

now go clean that cider from your earhole and find another game.

nice thread.

I saw efren do it so I practiced that shot one night. It took me about 20 minutes to find the spot and I could consistantly hit it. I feel so confident with it, I've used it in tournaments before.

I've used that shot many times over the years. About as risky as a 3 railer once you practice it.

prop bets

I know a guy that can put a ball on the spot, shoot the cb with his fingers 3 rails and hit the ball into the corner pockets in about 4 shots routinely. When he first makes the bet it's in 10 Shots. He milks it awhile winning more money. Bets he cameo it in 8, then 6 EDT... Like I said he can do it in 4 shots routinely by moving the ball to the side rail by the corner hole and then just cutting or spinning it in. He's made a lot on this one.
