I am a smoker but I do not mind going outside to smoke at all, I do the same thing at home. However, I do not think anyone has the right to tell me that I cant do as I choose with my hard earned dollars. If I want to smoke away from other people or in desinated areas that is my choice not yours. For those of you that think smoking should be outlawed, I propose we do the same with alcohol, we know it is bad for your health, just like smoking it kills those who choose not to partake in the habit, it stinks, it too is a particulate that gets on your clothes and other personal effects, it gives you bad breath, and above all else unlike smoking it can make those who indulge in the habit an asshole.
Most smokers seem to say as you do, that they don't mind smoking outside of the tournament building.
It's the same thing with texting, drinking, drugging etc. Society makes laws to limit the abusers from causing unnecessary damage to the rest of the people just caught in the line of fire.
On alcohol, I agree that with some people, it turns them into babbling buffoons, others into mean-spirited idiots and others simply fun-loving people but their alcohol doesn't get on my clothes or in my hair etc or at least it doesn't have the permeation that smoke does. Alcohol doesn't turn everyone into a babbling buffoon, or a mean-spirited idiot or the room clown. Responsible drinking is cool, imo. Responsible smoking is cool too. The only problem is that responsible smoking should most always be done outdoors or in designated buildings.
I don't think that when someone else drinks alcohol that I am somehow killing my own brain cells during their process.
And I also think you are right in that no one likes to be told what to do and this is probably the real problem.
Most smokers don't seem to mind going outside to smoke but won't go outside to smoke until their own eyes are irritated or they just can't take the smoke in general themselves or unless they are told to.

Smoking is a deterrent to good pool and good relations.
Smoking is stinky and nasty. Smoking is an irritant to those around it. Smoking is a health hazard for the smokers and for anyone that happens to be around those who smoke. Smoking kills people.
There is no justification I can think of for smoking indoors and creating pollutants that are injuring and killing your associates, your friends, your children and your spouse..
