Neither

I can't say if I love or hate them. I had a Black Hard tip put on a cue. Difficult to believe I am saying this, but it was too hard for me. A great break tip, but too much to pay for that purpose. They cost so much and there are so many other good choices that I didn't try again.

I find the black ones glaze over and are pretty inconsistent.I think
the brown ones are much better and hold chalk real well.

LOVE them!

On my second Black Soft...best tip I've ever used. No glazing problems, no miscue issues. Proper chalking keeps it beveled properly; I use a nickel bevel on a 12.75 mm tip, perfect control/action. Black Soft hits/feels like an excellent medium Triangle, but it feels like it "grabs" the cue ball a little more. I like Brown Soft, too, but not as much as the Black Soft. They last alot longer than single layer tips, too.

i used a black soft about a year ago and it glazed over way too often and i replace it when half used. went to a sniper and then an onyx....like the sniper the best so far. maybe the newer kamuis are better, i do not know. i have to change tips next month and am open to try something maybe better

I definitely don't hate Kamui tips, but I don't love or play with them either.
They are a real dense tip which might be the reason their hardness rating seems so off.
I like a crisp medium or med-hard hit, and a Kamui medium is too hard for me.

I use the Kamui tip tool on my Kamui soft tips. It works great and removes very little of the tip. I have also played with the Snipers and Black Onyx. I like the Kamui's best. They just require a little more care.

Kamui ss is the best tip i've ever used. I have never had one to glaze over. There's a reason many top players play with them.

I don't care for the black ones at all. They glaze over too fast (someone already said this). The brown ones are just okay. They (all Kamuis) play harder than advertised. If you're wanting a medium tip, you'd better order a soft one. IMO, nothing will ever compare to the "old" Moori mediums.

Maniac

I've tried both the Black and the II (brown) and didn't like either of them. As previous posters have reported, they're about two ratings off in their hardness scale (their medium is like a pressed hard tip).

I'd rather stick to the consistent Moori mediums; no guess work involved.

I like the rest of Kamui's products, just not their tips.

I like the brown ones; medium specifically. However, I don't think I will buy another one due to price. There are some excellent choices out there, such as ultraskin, that are just as good, IMO. They are <$3.

I have a Kamui SS on an OB Classic I picked up. I am a soft tip player & at 1st. I did not like it at all. It was too soft & also inconsistant. Some times it almost seemed like the CB was sticking to it. It was suggested that I remove a few layers & that it would wear into being playable. I have found that to be true for the most part but it still seems to be a bit inconsistant. It's not worth the money to me. A $0.50 Blue Diamond or Elk Master plays just as well, to me.

JMHO,

I've had a few MS browns & a SS black. The MS's were more like MH's and the SS is a M. I prefer the look & play of the brown, the black likes to miscue more. I'm switching to SS brown next time.

Has anyone tried an H? Can it cut diamonds?

EDIT: as some background info, I used to use LePro exclusively, but they became erratic. I switched to Tiger & it was too hard. Before I could try a softer one, I got hooked on Kamui. The stock tip on the OB shafts played OK...pretty soft (can't remember what they were, maybe Everest).

for what it's worth, I have yet to use any layered tip that is any good. I like a traditional leather tip clipped way down. I just rip the layers up to bad. It doesn't seem like a layered tip can hold up to the stress of breaking, jumping, and shooting all in one.

The other part is, my milk-duds cost $15ea. Most layered tips are twice that, and don't work as well...

I'm open to the idea, but have yet to try one I liked.

best,

Justin

I have used every tip known to man
I found nothing I like better than the Kamui SS
But everyone has different opinions on what is best

What is this medium triangle that you speak of ? That implies that there is more than one triangle tip which I've always been told there is only one.

I've had several of the brown and blacks. Although I got good deals on them, I'd rather play with a triangle. Everytime I would put a kamui on it would harden up and be useless.

Good point...I always referred to them as "Triangle mediums", as did the last two guys that put them on for me...I see that they're all "medium-hard". Learned something new!

Right on, that's what I have always been told and didn't know if something new came out. Thanks.

I know this might be slightly off topic although it is still on the subject of Kamui tips, my question is can you get Kamui tips by the box rather than just singular the same way you can with the like of the triangle & le pro tips?.
