I am not sure this is the corect forum for this but here goes. I am wondering why Jerry Rauenzahn doen't get his due on this forum. Granted I do see some positive comments on his cues here and anyone that has ever dealt with Jerry has only positive feed back. Jerry has been building cues maybe longer than some of the cue makers have been alive, he was building cues when Gus was. Jerry is also now building his own full splice blanks and doing them well, not to mention some wild one piece cues. have had Jerry build me two cues and they were faultless and played. It just seems that if you are selling one of his cues its a hard sell and you take it hit. I really don't believe that is a fair assement of the man and his abilities. I did see someone is pushing for his indocrenation into the hall of fame and if nothing else his longivity should put him there.

He's been around awhile, and his cues look great. I bet the old boy know his stuff very well.

I just traded a Carmeli for a Jerry raunzahn with Ivory joint and Ivory hoppe ring....I think it hits great and the points are perfect....I asked a few collectors and sellers in and around Cincinnati and nobody had one bad thing to say about his work.....I am happy with the one that I just got.

I don't think you will find any thing bad about Jerry if you search the posts here his cues are mentioned in most of the best hitting threads. His full Splice cues have veneers that are as good as I have seen and the thing that stands out to me is that his bottom points are as close to points as I have seen and as even as I have seen. Its not a knock on other builders but I just am not a fan of square bottoms. Many of the full splice bottoms get covered by a wrap so you dont know if they are square, even etc. It doesnt affect the playability it is totally aesthetic. Jerry is also spot on as to when a cue will be done of the two he has made me when he says that it will be ready it is ready.

I actually do get what the OP is trying to say. I have read a lot of good things about Jerry's cues and have seen a few that I quite like on AZ over the years. But when it comes to pulling the trigger the very first thing that I think of is IF I wanna sell it one day what will the price be. The thought itself takes me away from the cue.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Jerry's cues should be cheaper or that they're overpriced. What I'm saying is that I agree with the OP in that the general market(price wise) don't seem to agree with Jerry's work which is pretty sad.

I do hope to try Jerry's cue someday but I'm fairly sure I'll be buying a used one as opposed to a brand new one.

I have four cents on this topic. Until this forum, I had never heard of -R- cues. Word of mouth on a great cuemaker was the only way it happened before the internet.

Now we have the internet and quite frankly, it seems people push his work. Internet or not, the work should push itself. Look at the other guys who came out of nowhere and are now held in the highest regards. They didn't push their work and nobody on the internet had to push for them. Their work did it. Pushing the work might be detrimental.

I think Jerry makes a fine cue. And that's a huge understatement. However, I don't know how the Cuemaker Hall of Fame voters feel for either association (I'm not one of the voters), but I I don't see a Hall of Fame career in -R- cues. I don't mean that as an insult though it will come off as one. There aren't many members of either Hall of Fame, and there is a long list of cuemakers that would be in front of Jerry.

IMO, of course.

Freddie <~~~ okay, blast away
