Ball Carrying Cases

I looked around the different forums for information/review etc for ball carrying cases and didn't find anything useful.

As I recently purchased a set of Aramith "Tournament " Balls, I want to be able to take them to the pool hall in the best carrying case that I can afford to buy. I've seen one guy at the pool hall with one carrying case that is made of denier/nylon type material but I am afraid that the longevity is suspect.

Anyway, if any of you have used Ball Carrying Cases I would be interested to hear what you have to say about them.

Thanks!

I have a friend that bought one of the hard cases that you can purchase on most pool supply web sites to carry balls. He modified it by cutting short lengths of PVC pipe for each ball to make them sit up a little higher. That made the balls a lot easier to get out.

I went to Meijer's and bought a soft Swiss Army bag with a shouler strap, and lots of pockets that fits the box my super pros came in perfect. The shoulder strap makes it real easy to carry along with my case to the pool hall. The pockets are nice for extras like a magic rack. Hope this helps.

I have an Aramith case, very nice, room for 16 balls IIRC. Case has a padding type material for the balls and is very solid. Haven't really had
any use for it yet but hope to sometime soon.

Do the balls sit really low in the padding?

Right now, I'm thinking that lstevedus's idea about a Swiss Army bag sounds pretty good. After all, having the balls, separated into different compartments and not having them click together when you are carrying them isn't a big deal and I like the idea of being able to easily remove or drop them into a bag.

The more I play pool and the more I talk with players that really play, i realize the importance of not just clean balls, but balls that are of the same size, including but especially cue balls.

I bought my own set of balls, because like the tournament I played in yesterday, every table seemed to have a mixed set of balls. I bought the aramith super pros, and they play great. I also check the pockets on a table beforeI use them. Nails can chip your balls and also cut your hands.

Office Max - Office Depoet

Just stop by any Lap Top supply store and get a Lap Top bag. The Lap Top bags will protect the box that the balls come in and the bags are cheap, around $15-$20.

The best bag for the job is buy Cas Logic or Targa. I have a full set of Brunswicks in my Case Logic bag and theres room for a few extra cue balls, gloves, chalk and supplies. I also have a case for my set of Super Aramiths.

Yes, each individual ball sits in it's own place, there is a bottom padding and a top padding, You can see it on Mueller's site item AC10.

This is true Joey.

One rogue pocket nail can completely ruin a good set of balls.

Ball Carrying Case

I saw the coolest thing in the world on a CL add a month or so ago. Somone had taken a "Pelican" case and somehow cut perfect slots for the balls and an extra compartment for chalk, scuffers etc. If you like overkill that is your case. I couldnt find the link but it was bombproof.

I'd check out the guy who's building the O'Neal cases...

I've got an old case, I believe it was made by O'Neal, and it's perfect for what you're looking for...soft fluffy individual area for each ball...

I'm sure they could get you fixed up!

I just gave away an O'Neil case as a gift....it was perfect.
But I like King T's idea even better...a laptop case has room for accessories.
....even room for an extra bank-roll if things aren't working out too good.;)
Jack's case looked pretty good also.

This is what I do. It fits my box of balls, a wooden triangle, magic racks, ball cleaning solution, towels, and other various accessories. You can also empty your pockets before you play and have all your stuff unexposed tucked away in a bag. It works, it's cheap, and has more storage than the Aramith ball case seems to have. The Aramith ball case looks just like a modified laptop bag anyways.

I've got the Aramith case too and it works very well. The only weak point is the foam insert that separates the balls. It tears too easily in the narrowest places between the balls. I've had it about a year and it has two or three tears.

Along with that one that Jack mentions, how about this one?

I think this is a great idea.

I have a leather O'Neil. It is great but it took a while from order to delivery. I know he will make another but he does not make batches so they are custom Order. Mine is very nice I will try to post a pict.

I also have the aramith nylyon I think for the money and the usability this is the way to go under 40 bucks (Oneil was much higher) it also has room for 2 cue balls and chalk or cleaner.

I would go for the Aramith.

I bought the $40ish nylon exterior/foam interior Aramith case to carry my set of Aramith Tournaments to the pool hall. I have no complaints -- it works great.

Now I've seen it all or heard it

I'm of course just giving you a bit of a hard time .I did see one that JB cases made for a customer that looked pretty sharp. Also had another bookmarked when I was a bit more pool obsessed .Right now I just want a nice touch pad computer with a wireless printer for the car ,with that and my girlfriends notary stamp my business is completely mobile.I do keep a "car cue" in the back but have not found the need for my own set of pool balls.I have seen alot of 3 cushion sets in a small cary box. You could do what I had an idea to do and that was find a used brief case at a thrift store and ad your own pading as well.
