Ball Carrying Cases

My wife bought me the Aramith case and a set off Super Pros one year for Christmas. The case was broken and got sent back but you could plainly see that the case was poor quality to begin with.

The foam that encased the balls was poor quality. I put the balls in and then retrieved them. You could tell that in no time at all, from stretching the foam
to get the balls out, that it would be useless in short order.

Plus, two cues and a set of balls made the case too heavy to want to lug around.

Roger Taft is still around somewhere. He makes a nice wooden ball case.

Other than that, the Ozone nylon case looks heavy duty and would be my choice.

Do the balls sit really low in the padding?

Right now, I'm thinking that lstevedus's idea about a Swiss Army bag sounds pretty good. After all, having the balls, separated into different compartments and not having them click together when you are carrying them isn't a big deal and I like the idea of being able to easily remove or drop them into a bag.

The more I play pool and the more I talk with players that really play, i realize the importance of not just clean balls, but balls that are of the same size, including but especially cue balls.

On ours I redesigned the holes so that the balls can be easily grabbed from two sides.

Notice the notches around each ball? Easy to get a thumb and finger on each ball and take them out.

Of course this is another solution we came up with;

I also made one that fits the box that the balls come in. Basically the same design as the brown one above but built so that the box fits perfectly inside.

But another cool one that I saw someone do is to to take two tubes that are a large enough diameter to hold the balls and build a case around them. So each tube would hold 8 balls and basically be like a cue case with either a zippered lid or a flip top lid. I have the tube but I just haven't gotten to that project yet.

And I still owe a few people the leather ball cases. So don't order one from us, I just wanted to show off what we did not what I want to sell you. ;-)

Then a few years later I bought a different table and the owner had a set of centennials in an old Oneal case. I really like the Oneal case too. You can find one occasionally on ebay or here on AZ.

I store mine in the box they were shipped in. Turn the box upside down before removing the "lid" and balls are sitting there on a flat surface. Can't be any easier to pick up.

If I were going to travel with it I would use a laptop bag for the extra room.

Steamer, you crack me up. I've been known for saying things with very funny second meanings without realizing until it's too late.

Example: A few years ago we were at lunch talking about front wheel drive cars vs rear wheel drive cars. My comment off the top of my head was that "I like to feel the power from behind". So guess what, every time I see these guys they have something to say and we have a good laugh about it.

Tell me about it. I bent over the table, the other day, and damn near... oh, I get it. Never mind.

Here is my set. I used to play a bit of expensive one pocket, and you need both a good rack, and a well matched set of balls to rack them so the corner ball does not sell out. Some rooms this was impossible in. So I bought a Delta 13 and a set of Aramiths to leave in the car, and used them as needed.

The case is made of vinyl, and has two sides, one for the rack, one for the balls. Each side can be opened and closed individually. I had one of the ladies in the sewing department at work make it for me:)

Funny I asked you to build me a case many times, didnt care about the price, What happened with that???

Nothing has happened, I haven't made any for you or anyone else since the first ones I showed on here.

I emailed you at least once this year to confirm you still wanted it.
