What pool game do you like the best? One Pocket, 9 ball, or 10 ball?

Which pool game do you like to play the most, Why? And a race to how many games do you like to go to for paper? This is not a poll! Just a few questions about your likes in playing pool. This is related to your choice in playing pool games. I know I left out, 14.1. Thank you for your input.

1P....why? I'm real good at hanging balls, and that doesn't work out too well in 9 or 10 ball!!

9 ball seeing as 8 ball isn't on the list. Its my best game, it leaves plenty of room to manoeuvre the CB, the rules are simple and each game takes less than 5 minutes.

As far as number of games for money? For big money the minimum would be a race to 21 so 21-30 games.

Different games for different reasons, but I'm going to be the odd-man-out here and vote for 8-ball. It's more like a chess game than the rotation games; I've got my soldiers and you've got yours, and we both want to capture the king. My second favorite is one-pocket -- for the same reasons -- I've got my pocket and you've got yours. It adds a lot more strategy to the game than break-and-run games.

9-10 ball-14.1 in no particular order. 8 ball if I am forced to play.
I don't like to play or watch 1 pocket.

Another great thread, Last two times i played 1 pocket (against Abood and Shuff) we played races to 6 for 2500, so i kind of like racing to 6 and 1pocket the best, i would of liked to bet more but hell i bet everything in my pocket on one long set, like i always have!

I like the game that requires the least potting skills, which I think is one pocket.

One Pocket, because it requires moving the cueball to the tiniest places to sew up the other guy.--Smitty

Hi Lock, Happy Holidays!

I like to play Banks the most followed by Straight Pool and One-Pocket. Then the rotation games.

One Pocket, of course.
The game not only requires all the skills necessary to pocket balls, but also a certain amount of stealth, daring, and imagination.
I rarely gamble, and when I do it isn't for very much, and usually it's a race to three, or four.

games

I think I enjoy barbox 8 ball the most, and I seem to win more 8 ball tournaments than I do 9 ball tournaments. We don't play 10 ball here in the Midwest, except for ring games on the big table.

I can play 1 pocket, although I don't have the patience for it most of the time, especially 'wedge' games.

I was a money player down through the years, and got used to 9 ball, or just a game not taking long, and playing 1 pocket is like going to the dentist.

I like 9 ball the most for sure. I would simply change it to a call pocket game on all balls, bad then I think t would be the best game out there.

10 ball because I like the formate of no slop, no need to mod the rules its perfect for gambling or for warmup for pretty much any game. You get table speed and placement in your head after just a few matches, this helps with my 9 ball game and even 8 on a barbox.

9 ball race to 5 is my bread and butter. I am very good at making my shot and (don't vomit) riding the 9, in the same shot. Of course, this is when it is within the realm of reality, I am not one to constantly ride to the detriment of my game. Short races are great for me though, as my carom skills are solid, my break is good, and I can usually end 2 out of 5 games without needing a full runout. I know it sounds nitty, but my carom skills are solid and I play to my strengths.

BTW, I played a ton of bar box 8 ball, which teaches you to learn english and angles to break out clusters and problem balls. I found this translates well into my style of 9 ball... which is solid run out 9 ball with the occasional carom attempt to run the 9 in, provided I won't screw myself with the leave. I just see many times the pros are playing the 4 ball, have a chance to hit the 9, and just don't try for it. Their confidence in their skills is admirable... but I say, go for the two way shot if you still have a shot on the next ball. I practice these shots so much it is almost a better percentage for me.
