i am very fortunate to be able to practice 8+ hrs a day for the last month. Is this to much practice? could i wear myself out? i know the curious mind learns faster than a bored one. not bored yet though, haha:thumbup:
10 total post and three of them are new threads on AZ at once
You need to practice reading and posting instead of wasting your/our time starting thread after thread. Reminds me of another new poster....... Also starts thread after thread. Give the threads a break

I think it largely depends what you are actually doing during your practice sessions. Are you just banging balls around for 8 hours or are you fully engaged in deliberate practice? How are you objectively measuring your development and the success or failure of your practice routines? My guess without more information is that you don't need to practice 8 hours a day. It would be almost unimaginable to me that you could be focused and fully engaged in deliberate practice routines for 8 hours.
Depends on what you do with the time... If you can make part of the time regimented and actually work on quantifying things you likely won't burn out but you will test your focus...
Take a shot, ANY SHOT that you feel like you can execute 100% of the time as far as pocketing the ball and getting the cueball within a 6 inch shape zone and actually shoot it 100 times and see if you really can do it every time and record your results... Then pick another one... A few of these will eat up the practice time in a hurry
This will test your focus and give you a chance to reinforce your PSR to the point that it's hardwired... Most players never know the odds and even the ones that do eventually die broke too but they tend to have the best stories to tell and hold on to their cash a little longer than the others.....

I gotta ask you guys a question. I'm curious if there is ANYONE... anyone at all in the same boat as me.
I'm 60, I play ok. I enjoy straight pool. My high run is 78, and I'm a legitimate threat to run a 40 something in any given game. So you get an idea of my speed.
I have a GC in my basement that would NEVER get use unless someone comes over to play.
I just can't bring myself to enjoy practice. At all ... ever. I wish I did, but I just don't After 5 minutes of hitting balls I get sloppy, banking ridiculous shots for another 5 minutes, and then just unscrewing and stopping.
I suppose I have no desire left. That's all I can think of. Sounds crazy maybe asking this, but I do wonder if anyone in the same boat as I have found a way to enjoy practice?
i honestly just rack nine or ten ball, break, then take ball in hand if needed, shoot till i miss, no combo on nine allowed. record balls made , repeat. ( is this bad practice or should i be doing drills) averaging 4.5 balls per rack. and a bad rack often gets me 0-1 balls, haha

I would suggest working on both playing the ghost and on doing progressive drills that allow you to focus on your areas needing improvement and do so in such a way that allows you to measure your progress over time.
