A little Christmas present to everyone, challenge of champions video

Maybe all those guys too cheap to spend ten dollars can stop crying about a you tube link.

Maybe, but let's not turn this thread into a pissing contest please. Let's just watch this and enjoy the advances of modern technology.

I'm not sure what to think. It did look like mistakes that an amateur might make.

I know my hands would be shakey during a $50K match.

I guess it's tough to swallow when thinking some of your heroes would do something like that.

Man... Its a biatch when your gunslinger can't make a ball... Wow. Lebron has a lil pooch in him.

As soon as I saw David Howard on this link, I knew that this was the year they chopped 8 ways...

Not sure what people are saying about what actually happened... But I literally heard it from the horse's mouth....Sitting up at Lil David's pool room off 103rd in Jax after hours... Drinkin with David, his wife and a few others....

Maybe someone can confirm that there were other years that David played in the COC.... If not, it was def an 8 way chop... Anyone else in Jax or from Jax will tell you the same... David likes to drink and isn't really hush hush about anything from the past, the road, etc....

Merry Xmas to all and thank you JPowell for sharing....

My only point about all this is WHY WHY WHY would Buddy ever let it get to 8-8? - I mean I understand that Mike was dogging it but still.

But I have to say that I would never expect Buddy to miss some of those shots and positions for any amount of money.

These guys really did a poor job of dumping. In the Howard Lebron match, David shoots jam up to get up 3-0. Then, its 3-1 after the ESPN edits, and he makes a ton of super tough shots to run out, only to DOG a hanger 9, that would have put him up 4-1. I don't understand why he didn't miss those tough shots instead, lol.

I think this video shows just how hard it is to sandbag in a convincing manner. Everything takes practice, even dogging it!

Maybe the thinking was to keep it close so the oddsmakers don't get suspicious. Which I guess didn't work.

But yeah, that combo said it all. To drill it straight into the rail like that you had to simply not cut the ball. He probably considered overcutting it instead, and felt scared it might slop in off the rail anyway.

And almost any player, after a close call with the side pocket, gets gun-shy about letting the cue ball near the side again. Sort of like after getting a warning for speeding. No way he's gonna keep flirting with disaster like that.

About Buddy letting it get to 8-8....

There were tons of espn edits and it seems roughly half the games were shown. I wonder if the games they cut out for air time had lots of Lebron misses, and that's why those were the cut games. What I'm getting at, is Lebron might have played so bad (on the cut games), that the other players had no choice but to keep it close. Because he did miss some super easy shots (easier than the Buddy dogs), on the racks that were shown.

Both of Buddy's shots where the CB scratched in the side, and also hit the side tit, seemed like if that didn't happen, he would have been a mile away on the wrong angle from the next OB. It looked to me on the 2 ball where it hit the tit, he was probably playing a scratch in the corner.

It also seemed like he was playing the CB behind the 8-9 combo when he was going from the 5 to the 6. It looks like he could have hit low outside to end up in the middle of the table, to play the 6, and not risk going near the 8/9 with straight soft draw like he played it.

I'm surprised when Lebron had BIH on the 1, he didn't break out the 8/9 with the CB. The 2 was right there as an insurance ball. (Although my patterns are not that great.... just seems to me that is a great chance to break out that cluster).

Man, they must have been sweating Lebron making the winning 9 ball! That shot was tough! And the announcer says 95% make probability, lol. I knew Lebron won the match, obviously, and thought for sure he was going to miss that 9, and there would be one more dog by Hall afterwards.

What if Mike would have rattled the nine and left it hanging in the jaws? Now Buddy has to miscue.
