who is the best players in philly?

1. Mosconi
2. Caras
3. Hopkins (played out of Philly a lot)
4. Deuel

These are my all time picks in order.
 
Corey deul? I wasn't aware he was from philly, I know all about mosconi and the fuscos, what about some lesser known hustler types
 
Yeah, it's amazing how many top players Philly had. Now, I don't believe there is one Philly player that is national caliber.
 
Some dude named Darren lives in the Philly suburb of Allentown. As does AZ's own SpiderWeb.com. :cool:

I saw a young Hopkins torture The Miz for some cheese in '74 in a S Philly poolhall. Don't know if Miz was Philly based or not.
 
Hopkins would not be considered a Philly guy. Ever.

he's a new jersey guy from day 1. Same goes for Miz.

LOL. Josh has been in Philly rooms like 3 times a week since he was 12 or 14, until today. There are no rooms in Delaware.

Edit to add, I know Josh is from Delaware. But his pool time has probably been way more in PA, especially since almost every DE room closed up over 10 years ago. I guess the question comes down to how you define a player's "home", and is that different than their "pool home"?

Hopkins is before my time, but I believe it was the same case in the 70's and 80's. He played out of the Philly area rooms.

There were a lot of good players that I don't remember.



The outskirts within 30 miles...a lot of good players from Downingtown, Reading and Allentown. Okay...only one player from Pottstown.
 
Tom Golly?

Back around 1981, there was a guy named Tom Golly from Reading, I believe. He won the collegiate national championship. Is he still around?
