Zero X System

Thank you Tor Lowry

I was really impressed with what I saw. I only watched about 10 minutes and this guy said a lot of good stuff - in a short time without a lot of mumbo- jumbo.

Does that mean I will agree with everything? Probably not - but I think he is probably going to be correct more than I am. (and although I now shoot pretty weak, I really do have a good grasp on mechanics and fundamentals)

What is upsetting is to see this get to the bashing point. I think this video should be a part of everyone's library because he is direct and to the point.

Good Stuff!

BTW- I could only read a little of the bickering.
Let's make Tor welcome to Az Billiards.

Welcome Tor!

I am using IE8.

There is no "Buy Arrow" that I see.

There is a huge red arrow but clicking on it does nothing.

Oh well

Thanks for trying to help.

John

Just FYI...it takes maybe a minute to download the Chrome browser. I've used it almost exclusively for some time now.

But SURE ENOUGH, I very rarely get stuff that won't DL via Chrome and so I go back to IE or Firefox. (-:

That just confirms my view that the MAIN reason for computers is to drive people NUTS...and looking around the world as it is today...it seems to be working!

But FOR SURE...Chrome is an excellent browser.

FWIW, I used Firefox to download the purchased video. It easily transferred to my iPad using iTunes. Perfect! Great to use instructional stuff from the iPad which is easy to take to the table. I streamed the free video from my iPad, worked flawlessly.

Will that also down load to an Android as well or do you have to have an IPad?

Not up on the technical part of phones yet but up grading my phone soon.

It would be very handy to take to the hall that way.

Thanks.

Agree 100%! Can't stand to see threads ruined by BS bickering. Take it to PM!

I purchased the kicking vid and spent a fair amount of time watching. Thought there as some real good information presented.

I wrote the following on Tor's Facebook -

"Hello Tor. Just a quick note thanking you for the Kicking Video. I read a thread about it on AZBilliards, and promptly purchased the video. I am a probably a low to mid B level player, and while I know a few different systems, I absolutely gleaned new information here. The presentation was great! I transferred the video to my Ipad so I always have this resource plus my notes with me.

I really look forward to the banking video! Thanks so much for "paying it forward"! This video is an unbelievable value for any player wishing to improve their game."

If you go to the Zero-X Facebook page, you can read Tor's "Paying it forward" comment. Hell of a guy in my view.

I am guessing you can put it on an Android. Web site says optimized for smart phones. It looks great on the large screen and great resolution of the Ipad!

I keep lots of drills and stuff on here - Dr Dave, Bob Jewett, etc. Nice to access it easily.

Pretty much have my heart set on the Samsung Galaxy. Big enuff screen.
Thanks, will have to look into it further.

So let's review the two videos.

$8.99 for a kicking systems video that is about 2 hours in length. - very strong with good diagrams, some new methods and some renaming of well-known methods. Covers everything from one to four rail kicks. Upcoming banking video added as a bonus for some buyers. - For $9 bucks this is a great visual presentation of the major kicking systems.

Free 120 minute (with a few ads for the kicking video):

Covers
- basic bridges,
- stroke mechanics,
- the importance of developing a straight stroke,
- ghost ball aiming with actual ghost ball effects.
- the tangent line and what effects speed and spin have on the cue ball's path,
- position play using only the center axis and stun,
- getting on the right side of the object ball using the pocket line as a guide.
- the use of backhand english for spin application - with an admonition that this is advanced technique to be used after developing a rock solid stroke.

I have watched it twice now and find nothing that I consider harmful to aspiring players. Nothing at all. Not one bit of advice that Tor gives in the entire video is harmful to players in any class in my opinion.

About the only thing I do disagree with slightly is the advice to come through on the hit with the back hand spin rather than to move your backhand to the spin you want first and then take a few practice strokes before hitting the ball. And I only disagree because that is how I use BHE not because I don't think Tor's suggestion works.

As a big proponent of BHE I know it works as advertised and in my sincere opinion and experience works much better than shifted english where you move your entire body to the spin-application line. I prefer BHE because I can line up and then use almost any spin amount I like and change it without having to get up and change my body position.

So naturally I was pleased to see BHE presented in a professional way even if I don't fully agree with the way Tor is advocating it's use.

All in all as a lifelong player I watched this video and was reminded of several concepts that should have been ingrained deeply but have somehow slipped away over the years leading to carelessness in my play. Going back to basics and using Tor's instruction I was able to hold my own last night playing the Taiwanese carom game 357 for $10 a point. This is a game that my opponents play every day for hours and I play once every few months. Couple weeks ago I lost so badly dogging so many caroms that I vowed never to play it again. Last night though I decided to play a little and apply Tor's instruction and on my very first turn I scored. In fact my opponents accused me of secretly practicing.

Nope, just watched a good video with good practical examples of how to use the tangent line. So thank you to the person who posted this and thanks to Tor for making the videos. As well thank you to Dr. Dave and Bob Jewett for all their videos, both free and paid. Sometimes the same information with a different presentation resonates better which is why it's great that there are many approaches to putting the information about how to play pool out there.

I wonder if there is an advantage to using BHE the way Tor describes?

Kid Delicious shoots all of his shots that way. He pre-strokes center ball and then adjusts for English on the final stroke. Maybe it has to do with aiming?

Some people say that the theoretical swiping motion generates more spin. Bustamante for example appears to shoot this way as well, taking practice strokes with the tip always going to the bottom left and then on the final stroke he comes through with the spin he wants to use.

When Busty first came to Germany and played all the textbook picture perfect Germans they couldn't believe it was possible to play with a style like Busty's. We used to ask ourselves what is he looking at when aiming because it didn't appear to be the ball he was shooting. But the results are clear enough when you watch Busty play in person. He just simply runs out from everywhere using that strange looking aiming and BHE.

I used i.e. to download it without any problems at all!
Worth far more than he asks!

No. Some wrongly think you can get more spin that way, but it's a myth (there are lots of myths in pool).

...Maybe it has to do with aiming?
Using back hand english is a way to aim without concern for squirt, but it's best to do it by moving your back hand before stroking and stroke straight.

PJ,
I agree with you about the spin however I still think there is something that causes them to line up dead center and then adjust on the final stroke. Perhaps they feel more comfortable looking down the line of their stick at the shot. Really what I think it is... is they prefer to determine the amount of English on a subconscious level.

Nobody should use the technique shown - it's an inferior method that helps nothing and can hurt a lot.

Are you saying Tor or Efren or Busty or any adavanced player that is perfectly capable should not use a method that is very natural & effective for them?

A good technique would be more "natural & effective", even for a pro. More importantly, developing players shouldn't follow this bad advice just because a pro gives it. We already see too much of that here.

PJ,

With all due respect, I don't think it can get more natural than to picture and shoot. Plus Efren, Kid Delicious, etc. have shown it is effective.
