39 Ball Run - welcome any feedback...

When I watch this back I see the run ended as I really had no control of rack 3. At the end of the rack I think I should have shot the 14 instead of the 8 and got inside the cluster of four balls. Watching it back I see I didn't even take the time to chalk up before trying to draw across table to get on the other rail. Although the loss of control happened earlier...

Good Run

Jason:
Thanks for being the first one for posting a video here in 2013. You did good, running 39 balls is a good deal. At 9:36 you shot a ball (I think the 13) in the side pocket. Sounded like a double hit, maybe not but be careful when the object ball is almost on top of the cue ball. Taking that 8 ball was good, no problem with that choice. You were straight on the 14 ball. I would of made a stop shot on the 14 ball. Then you had the 11 ball in the side with a slight roll forward for the 5 ball in the lower left corner. Then a shot on 10 ball in the top left corner setting up for a nice break shot on the 1 ball..
If you did take that 14 ball instead of the 8. The cue ball would of went into those other balls, no telling what the turn out would be. One more thing, that end shot, no way was that 1 ball getting by the ball in the way, take a good look at those type of shots before you attempt them. Enjoyed watching, Thanks.

Jason,

Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed watching it.

You play at a nice fast pace, without dwelling over anything....but maybe to fast. you did overlook some better routes throughout the run. My one word of advice would be to walk around the table more to get different perspectives for opportunities. and always keep in mind Insurance Balls when going into clusters.

I'll take some notes and screen shots a little bit later today, and give a more thorough review.

again thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more !!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I may have double hit the 13. I also fouled the five ball with my bridge hand earlier in the run. Normally I play foul on all balls in any competitive match, if my opponent agrees. Since I was at home in my pajamas I just kept shooting.

As far as the pace, it was probably faster than I usually play - all my 50+ runs have been 18-20 minutes. My pace here would've been less than 15 if I was able to get there. Thanks again for the comments!

I watched it,I thought you played at a good fast clip racks 1 and 2 and then you really slowed down in the last rack. Most runs end shortly after changing speed of play you need to keep your rhythm after you have slow down to study or make a tough shot. If all your shots are slow afterwards you feel as if you are working harder or something. Myself I need to play faster.

You might have tried to get into those balls in the middle earlier perhaps when you went in the side you could have drawn into them a bit but that would have been with out any real insurance. That left side rail was left clumped up till late and you did well to get the balls you got.

Keep playing thanks for posting.

Nice run. I'm curious about your cue, it looks orange. Is it made from osage orange wood?

Thanks for the video.

You said you welcome any feed back so here it goes .You pocket balls well but your shot selections would not be mine, thats why we all play this great game differently .The one thing I would say if you watch the 3rd rack over and over for yourself many times you were lucky to have a shot .There were no insurance balls .(they are the key to high runs ) IMHO
Thanks for posting and looking for feedback, you are well on your way !
Best Game Ever !!!!

Your run.

Looks like you ran out of mental............which happens when you have a smooth and easy run going. Sometimes it pays to stop shooting, for a minute, and ponder the layout. Another thing......try not to leave all the final balls in close proximity, especially on one side of the table.....easy to get into trouble. Kudos.

You have a nice room to play in!

At 1:18 in your first rack you shot the 6 to open the balls. Why not take the 13 and 5 while you were right there? 13 in the corner, 5 in the right side and drift the cue ball back about to where the cue ball is now for a shot on the 6. You possibly could have gotten the cb even closer to the 6 for an easier shot.

As it was, your cue ball had to travel a lot at the end of the rack. Your key ball was the 5, which made for a little unorthodox position play for the break ball.

Thanks for the feedback. My shot selections versus yours is why you have run 100's and I haven't I am sure...you are absolutely right that I went into the rack a few times with no insurance and I also went into 'just don't miss' mode instead of really being 'in control' of the table. Do you have any examples from the first two racks of shot selections you would have made different to mine?

Thanks, the room is the basement in our brand new house and I just got the near mint GC III on ebay. I'm ecstatic to have this at home!

You are right the five was unorthodox. I wanted to draw back off the 13 and play the five straight in the side but I rushed and came up short. I think I was stretching.

I would have got rid of the 13 and 5 balls early on. You had an opportunity at 1:00 and another at 1:15, but ended up having to take some risk at 2:10. But what do I know, you're there at the table and so you know more about how the balls were laid out than any of us watching your video. Kudos for the steady pace and confidence, I think it was a good run.
