Do we "suddenly" have a men's pro tour?

The DCC 9-ball event has been increased to a race to 9, thereby satisfying the requirements for a BCA points event.

The front page of AZ, in the above link, shows that there are 7 BCA points events. They're taking scores of the player's top 6 finishes (in case they can't make 1 event....or dropping their worst finish for an event, if they were to actually play in all of them).

At what point do we have to look at this as a legitimate tour that many of us long to see?

Personally, I'd like to see one tour event a month. That's 12, of course, of which you would only count the top 10 of those for each player. That way, you'd be allowed to miss 2 a year for whatever circumstances. Or drop your worst 2, if you hit them all. If 2 players tied in points, then you could go to their 11th or even 12th event, as tiebreakers. It wouldn't have to get too complicated.

Personally, I'd like to see the White Diamond Calcuttas qualify as a BCA event, but I don't know the requirements or logistics involved with that.

Thoughts?

sounds good.

Any idea where the ultimate 10 ball is this year? It does end right as the Tunica event starts

No, we don't have a men's tour. A men's tour would have unified administration, management, and procedures, not to mention a membership of entitled competitors with established criteria for participation, conduct, and dress code.

We do, however, have an improving array of events on US soil, with the latest addition being CSI's 8-ball event in Vegas in July, and we should be pleased about it.

I liked the upbeat original post in this thread.

Was there any word yet if they were going to grow to a third event this year to go along with the Derby & Tunica?

I've looked all over and can't find out where the Ultimate 10-ball is being held. I noticed the extremely close dates as well.

While I do agree with you, sjm, at this point, just getting a line-up of events that all qualifies for points/standings seems to be a big step forward.

Ultimate 10-Ball

The Ultimate 10-Ball will be held at TUNICA - immediatley before the Southern Classic - also at Tunica.

Oh dang. My vacation in June just got a day or 2 longer.

Anyone know what the entry fee and qualifications are to play in the Ultimate 10-ball event?

It would be a step in the right direction if the guys who run the tournaments could try to time them to make each stop close, geographically. Looking at it, we have an 11 hour drive then a 6 hour drive then a 14 hour drive... looks possible to rearrange these a bit so players could vastly decrease road time.

Blue,

Doubt if DCC will qualify as a BCA points event even with the increase in the length of the race. Variables like the "buy back" will keep it unique. Frankly, I hope nothing changes. Greg has a great formula. Making the event subject to the dictates of outside forces can not be good.

If I read the Mosconi Cup post correctly, BCA points don't matter anymore anyway. Luke will essentially be picking the American team. If that is in error, please point me to the correct information.

As SJM stated in his post, we do not have a tour. Mr. Griffin intimated on another thread that something is in the works. For those who want such a beast, hope he can make something good happen for the Pro players.
