Pool school

Not one book could see me shot and tell me what I was doing wrong. The dvd never once seen my elbow dropping. I had spent thousands of dollars on those books and videos and they never realy helped me get to the level of play that I desired.

We can learn a lot from books, DVDs, and great players, but without a solid foundation our progress is limited. Nothing will get you on the right track better and faster than a good instructor like Randy, Scott, or any of the SPF instructors around the country.

New Kind of Pool School Showcasing Real Pro Techniques

My main concern is to take bits of advice from people that have a deep knowledge of the game.

When Billy tells me that this shot or that shot is best, I know he is right. He is probably the most knowledgable one pocket player in the world today. And I take what he says seriously.

When Freddy or John tell me something about banks, I take it very seriously. They are the most knowledgable bank pool players in the world.

Am I sure that Randy would advise the same shot as these men? And that's nothing against Randy, it's the same question I have with anyone.

But I will watch how Earl plays a certain shot. And then I will watch Souquet shoot it the same way. And then I will see Bustamante shoot it the same way. And then I know that is the best way to play the shot. And then I know that I've learned something valuable.

Those are great points and Johnny Archer and I are going into discussions about teaming up for a New Kind of Pool School showcasing genuine, pro techniques. We will schedule them in Atlanta, Dallas/Ft. Worth/ and Las Vegas this summer. Stay tuned for more information at www.cjwileybilliards.com

It's easy to tell that C.J never read the original post, but he used the post to insert a sales pitch for his non-existent pool school.

I thought the thread was a review/commentary about the experience the J-Flo had at The Pool School run by Randy G?? Personally I think that it's poor form to come into it and advertise your school... This is just my opinion and not a personal attack. FWIW..

I know CJ has a deep knowledge of 9-ball. If he says something about the game, I will take it as the final word on the subject. I don't know if he has played alot of one pocket or banks, I'm sure he has. We're limited to what we know about the person.

I've seen many videos of CJ playing 9-ball. He plays just like Earl. He played as good as anyone. And he knew the best shot immediately, almost without having to think at all.

I have a notebook with many shots that I have seen CJ make on video. Shots that I feel are important to burn into your memory.

So if he comes into this thread and posts something, you should be appreciative that he has come here at all. He's another player that I will learn from.

Because when I am at the table and I play a shot a certain way, if I am questioned about it, I can reply that this is how CJ plays it, this is how Sigel plays it, this is how Buddy plays it. And how will you respond to that?

Who cares

Mr. banks. Who cares . If your not going to comment on the original post than don't derail it by sucking off CJ. Please don't post to my thread anymore. This thread was about a life changing experience for me not weather books and videos were any good. Stay away

I do apologize for the thread taking off in a different direction. But also notice that while I receive a high amount of ridicule, I also have two champions that have given my words a bit of merit. First The Hippie, and now CJ. And Lou Figueroa too. They have all given me at least some credit.

That doesn't mean that you aren't still a terrible person.

I think that you must have taken these great champions words out of context.

You create conflict in every thread where you post. Do you enjoy that Chris?

2 things as I have been to pool school with Randy before

1...the video of yourself shooting DOES NOT LIE

2...open mind is always a big + when attending something like this. It is almost impossible to not pick up some very useful information attending the class unless you have a closed mind and refuse to try to learn.

Everyone teaches in their own way, its up to the person who is trying to learn, to be able to filter out what they think is good info and bad info for whoever they decide to get lessons from at the end of the day. Randy's one of the good guys who wants his students to succeed to their max potential.

no credit for you

Chris, it's not about you. If you think C.J cares if your alive or dead your wrong. Don't you get it, he used you and your post and my thread to p plug his school. Read his comments to your reply closely, they could have been put that on any thread out post on the entire forum.

CJ is one of the best and most knowledgable players of all-time. If he wants to advertise while responding to one of my posts, he should be allowed to do so.

Let's keep this thread on topic with due respect to the original poster and CJ.

Ahem.

The original poster... CJ just did a drive by ad drop.

This thread is about Randy G's Pool School. And that is what should be addressed here.

great to read your positive experience with randy
my time with scott also was very productive
you have to build the house with a strong foundation
that means a great and fundamentally sound stroke
it doesnt matter if you know the right shot if you cant execute it on command, first time, under pressure

Randy G

I had a one on one 8 hour session with Randy almost exactly a year ago. I was literally a beginner at that time (still am). The video of your stroke is truly revealing and educational. I have taken lessons since then from people (professional player(s))who tried to change what Randy had taught. I choose to subscribe to the Randy G school of thought.
I'd love the opportunity to get to go again.
