How About An AZB "Undercard" Match For A TAR Match?

thanks

When it comes to pool I give a damn what John thinks. That's just me. And I think we both know that deep down a LOT of people would like to have John's life instead of their own. I believe a lot of people like to imagine themselves being able to play at that level. Or I could just be the only one but experience has taught me that I am rarely the only person who feels the way I feel on a planet with 7 billion other people.

I do disagree with John about FB being more civil. It's not but you get to edit your experience there by cutting out the jerks. And typically people who follow you are people who respect you and vice versa. So that cuts down on the negativity.

Here it's up to the mods how long they will allow someone to get flamed before stepping in. On FB you can delete someone in an instant. Also the tone on FB is different. It's more about personal experiences in the moment rather than speculation in my opinion. Here it's more about what-ifs and I get it that it can be upsetting to see someone say that they could have been a contender if-only they had had the time to put in. But I happen to believe that if I person puts in the time, really puts it in then they can't help but to get good at whatever they are putting time into.

But anyway, why are you so grumpy, it's the internet, where opinions build server farms. Just think the more you write the more you contribute to the world economy as someone has to build and maintain the equipment to keep your opinion accessible for eternity.......
first your right john i figured out in one day fb is alot like azb but at least i know whos talking.
secondly thanks for defending me.
third i agree with u about anyone spending alot of time at something will be good but it takes natural brains and coordination to be great truly great.
all the golf pros have practiced that same and they r all great not good but guys like rory, tiger, phil win way way more.so i think natural ability seperates them. not natural ability at golf but athleticism in general.
i think tiger woods or mickey mantle or manny p could be pros in many different physical activities because they are born with talent.

On another note regarding cleary comments hes right. i dont make great money but my quality of life is good. i think if i made 100,000 a year at pool people would still say ,yeah but that aint shit blah blah.golfers make millions etc. ive made enough since i was 23 to not work a job for last 16 years.

ive owned a poolhall,a house, about 10 cars and trucks a couple motorhomes,10 dirtbikes,8 streetbikes, been married, and lost money on every one of those things mentioned. ive played pool on average 2 months a year total for last 10 years.

golfed tons, fished tons, dirtbiked tons, streetbiked tons, shot guns tons, and yes i only made 16000 last year but only went to a few tourneys, actually winning 2 out of 5 played.
i do,wear,eat,get up,play pool,golf when and where i want.
i guess i bring this up because it cracks me up when somebody belittles us proplayers on what we earn or what they think we earn.
i have a bunch of free time, toys, etc so when someone belittles me for what they think i earn u gotta factor in quality of life and trust me i have alot of fun.lifes short.

another thing the reason i only go to a few tourneys a year is because i dont have bad vices like alchohol, drugs, gambling etc i do have a weakness for motorcycles though lol. without those bad vices to waste money on ive managed my money as best as i know how. im fortunate enough to be far far from broke.

so if somebody makes 75000 a year thats great but if they have to work 5 days a week 12 months a year to do it then maybe the 30,000 a year a so a propoolplayer makes only working 2 months a year aint a bad deal.

also what azb says pros earn is clueless, theres lessons, money games, equipment sales, sponsors etc.im not saying their job or life is worse or better then mine just different.
cleary and everybody else no hard feeling lets all get along.im no different then anybody else we all like pool and should try to respect each other a little more.

u say cleary im a good guy and u have no beef with me then u belittle me for what i earn . i say everybody on here be respectful and lets talk pool etc but i know that wont happen.

so im thinking i will chill out and stay off here as im way to much of a target because i use my face and name and people insulting the pros know alot about us and we know nothing about them. this is a very hostile place for guys like me ,thats life.

im not going to use me as a example lets use cj . in his prime he earned as a proplayer what cleary would say wasnt worth it etc.

cj was on mags,on tv,respected by his peers as a super talented champion,
had fans everywhere pool was,had tons of super hot girlfriends wives etc.
did nothing but play pool, golf, martial arts, date super hotties and deposit money in bank from many wins etc.

now how could someone say they wouldnt want to be like cj.
just something to think about the next time somebody tries to belittle the top pros.rock on cj and all the other pros and everybody who isnt a pro player

John,
I just finished watching your US Open video on youtube where Efren beat you 11-8. If you didn't hang that 7 ball I think you would have beat him. Also, your hair was awesome back then:D.

JB,
Should Eric, Lou or anyone else not work out I would be willing to jump in and represent the non-system crowd.

Any game.
Whatever stakes you feel comfortable with
You can talk and dance around all you like.

Respectively yours,

Talk and dance around? I have already told you dozens of times we can play any time we find ourselves around a pool table. I have never ducked you ever. The only problem is that geographically we are not compatible. However in April I will be at the Super Billiards Expo and there will be plenty of tables. I plan to give myself a few extra days to spend around the NY/NJ area so if you show up I am sure I can carve out a little time to donate to your travel fund.

There is no player on AZB who is not a pro that I fear to play for money. Now I might not bet a lot but I am not afraid to get in the box. And I am reasonably sure that I have played many matches for stakes that most of the folks here wouldn't dream of betting on themselves. As I told Eric, you don't have to be a good player to play for money. And I don't have to have the nuts either. In fact I like to go up against the nuts and see if I can outrun them. Because, when I do then I get a high that money can't buy.

This thread however should really be about matches that have a real chance of happening as a TAR undercard and not used to dredge up old grudges. I apologize to the board for offering to spot Lou and thus bringing it up. I mean the offer stands always but in reality there is next to zero chance of it happening on a TAR stream.

JB,
Save the drama. Did I offend you? Looked like you might have an issue with finding a dance partner....i was just putting up my hand.

Do you have reading skills issues? Here did I imply anything? Thx for offering the otherside of the continent. I figured Vegas was fair. Just say no thank you.

John, I didn't belittle you any more or less than you're belittling amateur players (who you wont name) who post on a pool forum. You laugh and joke about how little they know and bad they play then get butt hurt when they say something about how little you make?

There is nothing wrong with being a pro pool player, Im sure it can be a fun life and at times good money. I have many friends who make a living as pro pool players and I have nothing but respect for them. They also, have nothing but respect for me. It's a two way street.

Too bad I don't live in the states, I would have loved to play on the TAR table for the experience.

Hey Cory, how ya been? That was a memorable match. You must be a one pocket player, you locked me up TIGHT (in the rack) a couple of times. Good match for two amateur hacks, lol.

This post is an old offer from JB Cases/Barton:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=173113&highlight=play+eric+$1000+jbcases

I suppose i was just wondering out loud, if it was still an offer?

Eric
Life is good. And yes, when I do get to play, it's one pocket if possible. There's a lot of old timers around DC who came up watching Strawberry, Bus Driver Ronnie, etc. play one pocket. Given their age now, I can outshoot many of them, but they know a lot of good moves, especially late in the game, if it gets that far. I've at least been learning a ton from playing all of them I can. I might get good enough for an under-undercard match someday.

It doesn't look like JB vs. Lou will happen. What's the next best match? We could go by post count and have Black-Balled vs. _________.

Cory

Nick B

Yes. I want to play you. I didn't see where there was ANY offer from me to go to Vegas to play anyone. As for offering the other side of the continent I merely said where I will be I didn't say you had to come and frankly I would not expect you to. But IF you did then I would be happy to make some time to play you.

And no Nick I don't have any issues with my reading skills. Thank you for your repeated offer to play me any game for any amount. Hopefully someday we will have the opportunity to do that. I am sure that playing a great player of your caliber can only be a learning experience for me and I am grateful that you would even want to play me. I appreciate that you want to teach me a lesson and I promise if we play to do my best to learn it.

However if you would like to go to Vegas to play then I am sure we can arrange a match for you with another AZ amateur who would like to take you up on the any game any amount offer. Surely your offer isn't confined to just me, a player that that you already know you won't have any trouble beating easily.

So KK9 if I understand this correctly Nick B. is willing to fly to Vegas to be on TAR. Find him a suitable match and there is one half of your undercard.

JB,

No you didn't offend me any more than you normally do. It's ok I expect you to be this way so I am used to it. Yes, I am fully aware that you are eager to play me. You are certainly penciled in on my dance card if and when we should have the opportunity.

fair enough

difference is u insult me directly i never said anybodies name and i never insulted u. thing is cleary i dont know you. your a computer name.
post your name ,face, and what you do for living then i will respect you.
or i cant take anything you say to heart because your a guy insulting my way of life from behind a keyboard. my face name and what i do for living is known by you. its a two way street.

idea

i have a great idea.
lets everybody post their name ,face and occupation, etc so we can all talk like adults.
then everybody i think will be more respectful

My name is Andrew Cleary. I'm the art director for a television network. I live in New York City. Im on the right in the photo (you may know the guy in the middle). And no, I don't want to play you (that's normally what's asked next).

Thing is John, you're a great player and like I said, you're a nice guy... my intention was not to insult you or make you feel bad. I can tell I've offended you and I'm sorry. Happiness in a career is more important than the paycheck. That said, I do stand behind what I said, but I could have put it nicer way.

Yes JB. In case you haven't noticed TAR is based in Vegas. Thx for setting me up with KK9. Unlike yourself I wont back up.

John,

Even if everyone on here used their real name it wouldn't make people more respectful or civil necessarily. Of course it MIGHT stop the trolling but at the end of the day there is no difference between the screen name Jeff Jones and Jeffers.

My whole thing is that I don't really care what anons have to say anymore. Everyone has an opinion because they cost nothing. At the end of the day the only opinions that matter are those that affect your life directly. In other words if backers don't want to deal with you then their opinion matters. But if some random amateur OR any amateur for that matter doesn't like your game or says that they could be as good as you or whatever then it doesn't matter.

Because you have the hardware and the prize money and the name already. The very fact that you are in a position to be knocked means that you are already way ahead. Now the thing is that you have to play the forum like you play pool. Professionally.

Because this is where your fans hang out. And at the end of the day these are the people who buy your DVDs, buy your cues, make it a point to go see you play, who really want to get personal lessons from you and who do respect your accomplishments and advice. I know you aren't trying to sell anything but I also know you love the game. And don't try to to say you don't because I have seen how you interact with the fans at shows. So even if you aren't selling something directly, which is cool, you are part of the fabric of the game and the part of the reason we are all here.

Yeah, this type of place allows for some people to piss all over the place but at the end of it the fact is that most people here are good folks who just love the game. So my advice is hang out and talk pool and let the jerks be jerks. Their karma is that they have to wake up every morning in the same skin. That's punishment enough. Don't rob yourself of hanging with all the really good people here because of a few jerks.

u almost apologized but at the last second had to say i stand behind what i said. i still accept apology and im sorry too bud.
anyway andrew your a good guy too so if im in ny someday ill buy u a drink for sure.. p.s. i do not care if people play good or bad. i just have a hard time listening to the ones who talk like they r 10 times better then they r.feel me.
whether they r a d player or a pro.more often then not its the pros lol

thanks

good advice john thanks ill keep that in mind.
ill bet if everybody on here met in person, had a beer and got to know each other we would all become friends. internet forums r not ideal for that.
everybody on here likes pool and many other things i like so we would have a ton in common instead of me saying u play bad and them telling me im broke. which neither is true. anyway i forgive everybody who ever went off on me and i hope they do the same.
ill buy everybody a beer on here next time i see them but i have to win a tourney first to afford 20,000 beers lol.unless its natty light lol then i just gotta finish 9th
