Where Have All The Kamui Chalk Warrior's Gone?

You would have to test an incredibly large number of people to rule out a statistical or mathematical variance.

No you wouldn't. ...At least you wouldn't if the product was significantly better (as it ought to be for the price).

40 people tested three times would give you 120 results. If 100 results indicated that the Kamui chalk performed better (when the user didn't know which chalk they were using), then a 5:1 preference would surely be a strong statistical indicator.

Simply keep the cues, tables, temperature etc the same, and change chalk every 30 mins for three or four hours as I say, and you'd end up with some hard results which would indicate that Kamui was either better, worse, or approximately the same as other chalk which costs a fraction of the price.

Of course this is a scary idea to anyone who has paid so much more for a product unless he or she is deeply sure that it's worth the extra money, otherwise the 'Emperor's new clothes' effect might turn out to apply.

Now I'm not saying that Kamui chalk isn't worth the extra money. I'm just saying I'd like to see the double-blind test before even trying a product which is so much more expensive than most of the competition.

I've often wondered why some enterprising "Hustler" hasn't invested in quality printer....make quality counterfeit Kamui labels:thumbup:
Buy mere mortal chalk...like something from Tweeten...peel off the label....glue on counterfeit Kamui lable....instant profit.:smile::smile:

Maybe it's already been done?

The size difference is a dead giveaway. Maybe those Kamui guys thought of this already and came over the top with a smaller cube for 1000x the price of Masters just to thwart counterfeiters. :-)

That's easily fixed....make a template...sand it down to the correct size, and then the new label sticks even better?

There must be some hard scrabble Hustler somewhere, thinking about this sort of thing?

I'm surprised it hasn't already flooded the market:confused:

Anything that is reported to be, marginally better than the competition yet cost' 25 times as much, is going to copied??? It's like a rolex watch...you'd have to be an expert to pick it out pretty soon... Over the long haul I think the price will go down....drastically. The market won't bear it...the new wear's off...etc...

Let's face it...no one that can play a lick talks about what sort of Chalk they use anyway? Unless it's an endorsement...and that's paid for:thumbup:

I know you are being facetious but go ahead and try one and tell us how much of a mess you made and whether it's worth it?

So besides the problem with the chalk size, did you have any other problems?

Did the labels come out allright?

J/k :-)

I've lived in the PI long enough to have learned the hard way..not to trust...anyone. Be it my sister in law or her Boyfriend.

I can proudly say that I've hung out in Naples Italy many times on liberty. The Pick Pocket capital of the world.
I ride the Jeepney's every day with some shady character's. I've yet to have my pocket picked..or loose a cellphone. You have to have your wit's about yourself..

When I first moved to the PI..I asked an old "Kano" hand in AC 25 plus years, business owner..friends with the Mayor Tarzan Lazatin and Blue Boy Nepo...they both keep changing jobs back and forth Mayor..Congressman:confused: It's hard to keep up?

Anyway. "Old Boy's" one piece of advice was never..ever..trust a pinoy man with a little power.

This question makes it very obvious that you have not tried the kamui chalk and that you haven't even seen a piece.

Sometimes I wish this was more like a poker site I visit where if someone posts something stupid you can grill the shit out of them and tell them to die in a grease fire.

Kamui chalk does as advertised, is great, but won't change your life.
$30 is, relatively speaking, a lot of money for chalk, but won't bankrupt you.

Does that cover it?

PROS.. Works great

CONS.... way over priced
cubes way too small
they don't put a tip shape in it... (flat)
puts way too much chalk on the CB

OVERALL....I still like it and will continue to use it

Pool players always are broke and complain about cost of stuff. People will charge what others are willing to pay for it no matter what it costs to make it. I pay more money to use Pro-V golf balls. Does it help my game? I think it does a little. Even if kamui chalk gives you a slight advantage, why not use it if you play in big tournaments or gamble a lot? The $30 is a very small price considering what most good players gamble for.

Well put. I also think if a player uses center ball a lot or is a weaker player, they may not even see the difference.

I would love to just be able to use center cue all the time. It would mean that my stroke, speed and position are perfect...Think about it

Basically it's really none of your business what some else uses, you don't like Kamui don't use.

We are not debating the fairness of making enquiries about what other people do. We are debating the veracity of claims made by those who feely volunteer opinions about chalk which costs many times that of rival brands.

Big claims require big evidence ...is all we're'saying (if the sceptical crowd will permit me to speak on their/our behalf for a moment).

Except when your opponent wins the flip, gets the break and leaves you a full table draw shot as your first shot.

I still have mine and probably will still have it 10 years from now.

The only thing I ever use it for is on my break cue and when I scuff my tip. I have a power break pro and for some reason that chalk is the only thing that sticks to it. When I shape up my tip I put it on and put Masters over it. This seems to make it hold regular chalk way better and the tip never glazes over.

So my ridiculous $25 cube will last around 10 years. I'm OK with that cost.

You may be debating the vericity of the claims, which is fine with me. I don't sense that the OP was doing the same. In any case it's still a personal decision. The same could be said about cues, why spend a thousand when one for a hundred can do the same thing, personal preference.

You have a valid point...I have never knowingly bought snake oil as well;)

I have also never engaged in gay sex or seen a gay sex porn video....yet every fiber of my soul tells my "I don't like it"?

Two thirds of the guys that play with Kamui chalk wear a glove...carry a "dealer's case" with all their masterful tools inside...etc...

And he probably has a Rottweiler (size matters)...drives a Vette
and has doll like hair implants while wearing way too tight jeans?:D:D:D
