Rick, this could be the nicest cue I've seen from you. Absolute beauty, the color scheme is spot on. Just curious what wrap you gonna out on it? If it were my cue I'd have a brownish tone elephant ear...with that textured look this cue is gonna rock.

I'm a little OCD when it comes to balance and symmetry though, and personally I wish the propellor had side wings to balance the sides out. But I know you're after something different here and this just boils down to personal preference.

All in all great job there Rick, looking forward to seeing the finish work!

Thanks Jive,

I built the cue for Chirppa and he designed the colors scheme and hand picked all of the wood and veneer color choices from photos. The rosewood piece he choose was laced with orange that was in his color scheme wheelhouse. He was after a soft look and his choice of the white points into the curly will pop out when sealed and finished.

This cue has been a very fun project to work on because of the detailed oversight. Sometimes it is easier as the cue maker when someone else is specific on design detail. Makes my job a lot easier. LOL

ahhhh, my cue :)!

Thanks for the nice comment Jive.
Rick and I have and had a very good time designing this cue, we are both thinking like "one" you could say.
We have shared a lot of txt´s pics etc over some time now. Been a blast.

I think the wrap idea from you Jive would do nice but I have a wrap in mind that both Rick and I think would be perfect for the cue, it will be a surprise - I hope you like it:).

One thing that has been important to me has been to avoid black and that we would try out bleached white veneers as a outside color, was a bit hesitation there from Rick at first but he came through and now he likes it a lot. Havn´t seen that veneer combo before.

Thanks for posting the cue Rick!

Geat cue Rick. Congrats Chrip!!!

Thanks Jon:)! I know you have seen it upfront before me:p. I´m eager to see it and I know I will like it. Rick has put a lot of "love" into it and I´m pretty sure I will like how it plays:).

Kind of forgot to answer you PM before:o.

Without details - great for you, I think you have done right - you know what I mean.

If you want please send me some pics of your cues (you know which) to me at christian@vitvaruspecialisten.com.

Take care and thanks for your input!

This cue drop dead amazing....

Thanks mate:thumbup:
Design is subjective of course but I like to think that Rick and I have come up with something nice, wait to you see the bumperless design and the wrap, hope you will like it:smile:.

A small detail that is not visible is that the orange dot in the props are hexagon, Rick´s idea to make it more like a "real prop".

Thanks! Rick just sent me some pics with some sealer on the cue - it looks fantastic, the bleached white veneers really pop and this with just a first coat. I´m really glad this worked out, a bit of a chance but I trusted me feeling :).

Rick - you are the Man!

Very nice looking cue Chrippa, I really like the box work in the butt sleeve.
Very nice Rick, keep up the great work sir.
Congrats to both of you on a fine looking cue.

Awesome

What a cool looking cue. I love the orange veneers and how well it coordinates with the wood. Thanks for posting the great pictures.

Christian,

Due to the fire I will not have my computer back till next week so I will not be able to post any new pics of the cues further progress for a while.

I will have the pin and a bumper less detail done and have the cue epoxied by this weekend. I will have some new pics posted by Tuesday when my machine should be all cleaned up and back on line.

Rick

Autumn

Thanks for the nice words everybody.
Just talked to Rick and he will send out new pics probably on Tuesday, he had a really biiiiig experience last week, his house caught fire - big time so of course this has been a bit of a setback timewise in the cuemaking overall. Luckily no one was harmed, which of course is the most important issue!
The shop did ok though and he is close to "normal" speed again but is waiting for his computer to get back from renovation - right word?!?!
Well, let´s speak some "Swenglish", - I guess you understand:wink:.

Some leather wraps is on it´s way from Martin also and we will decide wich one will work best, - color wise.

Thank´s Rick for all your effort to make this cue, it has truly been a lot of fun!

Chrippa

Wrap groove cut. The orange grain in this wood is perfect for Christian's color scheme. I love it!

Rick, Cue looks great! Sorry to hear about the fire, glad to hear everyone is okay.

Thank you Steve, everyone is good and six months from now this will only be just a speed bump in my life. I only have one thing to offer all my AZ friends.

If you have any candles in your house, "REMOVE THEM". They are land mines and IMO nothing good can come from them.

On Christian's Autumn Cue, he just had Martin send me 4 wraps. They will all be beautiful on this cue. Martins wraps rock as far as quality is concern for sure.

Working with Christian is like no other experience I have had with someone designing their own cue. He has put maximum deliberation on every detail of this project. We are going to use orange pads between the tip and the micarta ferrules. I see this detail as icing on the cake.

Rick

Too bad he can only choose one of these. This cue was going to be my ten year cue but I screwed up the math. LOL. Only 9 years in March since I did my first SP.
