The Perfect TAR Studio...IMO

I don't know how much sq ft they have for tables now but if they had 9', 10' and 7' tables with two sets of rails for each (factory standard and 4" for the 7, 4 1/8" for the 9', and 4 /1/4" for the 10') they could really have some awsome 3 day match ups. Don't get me wrong TAR is awsome already and i've bought everyone of the ppv's and will continue to do so no matter who's playing or what format they choose. TAR has put in a lot of money to keep this going with very little...if any ROI.

I think with the right floor tables could be slid around using thin table movers under the legs and have very little leveling problems. A table mechanic would know more about that than me. Johnnyt

I had the pleasure of attending TAR 31 and the studio is not big enough to fit any more tables. The way they have it set up now is nice though, comfortable spectator area, the arena, and the "backstage" area. Plus I don't see a need for a 7 or 10 ft table. Pros rarely match up on them. At the derby there was very little action on the 10 ft tables and unless they're playing a bar box player they don't play on 7 ft tables either. I think it's perfect now, no need to spend $15,000 for tables that guys are probably not gonna wanna match up on.

I like your idea & I like the different size pockets for different size tables.
I commented in another thread whom ever the real 'governing body' is needs to set minumum standards for a table to qualify as a pro table.

I was not directing my comments at the TAR matches as they can do whatever they want for their entertainment events. I think they have done a failry good job of what they are doing but it would be better for the promotion of pool if it can get out to more people. Maybe advertisement with free live streams woud be beneficial in that regard.

Anyway, I like your idea.

Regards &

I don't know how many match up on a 10' table as they haven't been around very long this time. As for 7' tables most top American pros play on them often. Shane, Corey, Nevel, to name a few. Mark G. is a partner in TAR and also a partner in Diamond. Do you really think he is going to have to pay $15,000 for two used tables? Johnnyt

There is an untapped action vein IMO...barbox pool. Look how popular the Clash of the Titans was when Corey/SVB/Morra/Klatt matched up in Canada. Certainly TAR could wheel in a barbox on occasion?!?! Get Bowman/Kirkwood/Meatball/Cone/McMinn/etc on there & have a round-robin shootout!

Three words. Not economically viable.

Why not throw in a 8 & 12 footer. The standard is 9 feet. The rest is fringe. I'm not gonna speak for Justin or Mark but I doubt they would have the required viewership and it's tough enough paying the nut as it is. You either have the space to have all three set up continuously and make you landlord richer or you pay a table mechanic to assemble/disassemble two tables every match.

I realize I'm a bit of a barbox snob (hate them) but unless Mosconi resurrects himself to play Efren most non BB players will simply not pay. I have purchased EVERY tar match that I was in able to watch (Kazakhstan has Borat but poor internet service). I would pay to watch TAR32 featuring Charlie Sheen vs. Scooby-Doo. When they go to Reno my paypal account stays dormant. I simply don't appreciate it and suspect many like myself would feel the same. As a once a year event and to support CSI for TAR it probably makes sense...otherwise BB won't work.

The 10-foot with 4 1/4 inch pockets would be perfect. It is the ideal table and pocket size for 10-ball, 8-ball, straight pool, and 1 pocket IMO. Pretty much every game they might want to set up a match on.

I remember when the Diamond 10-foots were being built and discussed on AZB that in the TAR Podcasts Mark G was saying that TAR would be getting one, that seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird and that sucks.

TAR should have an underwater match up option as well. With an octopus racking the balls and a blowfish Reffing the match.
